From Sunlit to Moonlight

Last week my lovely computer got fried during a power outage. *major sad face* It’s in the shop, and I have no idea what will need to be done fix it or how long it will take. Faced with the prospect of no Sims or foruming or anything else internet for a whole weekend (unless I wanted to go blind looking at my smartphone screen), I unearthed my old computer and hooked it up. ;) (Yes, I am pathetic!)

It had all of the EPs/SPs installed up to Generations, so I updated it with all of the new stuff except for Showtime (I left the Showtime disc in my broken computer when I took it to the shop…D’OH!) and played a little Supernatural in Moonlight Falls this weekend. Yee-HAW!

A few pics from gamplay…

This is Lenore Dunnington and her twin brother Drake, hanging out at Moonlight Point. They’re plain old humans, with not a supernatural bone in their bodies.

Kahale House for Download

A couple of people on The Sims Daily asked if I was thinking of sharing my version of the Kahale House in Sunlit Tides, and I thought, why not? It’s CC free, after all.

However, I DID use stuff from pretty much all of the EPs and SPs, with the exception of Katy Perry’s Sweet Treats, because I don’t have that one. So if you don’t have all the EPs/SPs, you’ll probably be missing some items. You will also of course need the Gold Edition of Sunlit Tides, as I made liberal use of all the plants and furniture.

Another important thing: I am fully patched to 1.38 (the Supernatural patch), so if you’re not patched, you may have problems installing this lot.

If you meet all of the requirements and would like to download the house, then read on! :)

The Kahale House in Sunlit Tides

So this weekend while I was waiting for Twallan to update his mods for the new patch, I played Sunlit Tides a bit, since my save of that world is in a CC-free game (except for my default skin/eye replacements, a couple of store items, and a couple of must-have hacks like Hysterical Paroxysm’s camera fix and her tiny texture replacers — I can’t stand seeing sparklies when I build!).

Back when I first loaded ST, I picked the Kahale family, because I thought they’d be interesting. Kai Kahale is the governor of the island, while his wife Alana is a Super Villain. They have a daughter, Lealani, who just became a teen in my game.

Yesterday I decided to build them a new house. Their old one was absolutely huge, with amenities like a home gym, office, and THREE family rooms. However, it had very little character, and didn’t feel very island-y to me. I thought the Kahales deserved a sleek, modern, but still cozy tropical home, so that’s what I attempted.

Here’s what their house looked like before:

Here it is after my re-build…

The Town Green

Now for the town green…it’s actually two lots, bisected by a sidewalk, but I tried to make it look like one long park. Since most of the New England village greens I looked at are pretty sparsely landscaped (here’s one example), I don’t have much in the way of flowers, shrubbery, pathways, fences, etc. It’s mostly just trees (which I hope will look awesome in autumn! :D ), benches, a few monuments and deco, and a gazebo.

I don’t imagine my Sims doing much here except for maybe reading a book, playing catch, or maybe having a town celebration. I really have no idea how that Seasons marker will work for transforming lots with the seasons, but I might end up putting an ice rink here in winter or something like that (in which case, I’ll have to move some stuff around). ANYWAY! Sorry for the ramble…on to some pics!

Emmeline’s Galley

I worked on a few relatively simple lots in Whimsett Cove/Matkooskee Saturday night. The first is called Emmeline’s Galley, and it’s a restaurant/bar (not a Late Night bar, though) using the diner rabbithole from Barnacle Bay basically as a giant piece of deco. :-D I had way too much fun taking pics…

Whimsett Cove – Town Hall & Church

Now for something completely different…

I’ve had a couple of different ideas for projects swimming around in my head for a couple of weeks now — one of them was “Fran goes to college”, and the other was “New England village that will look good when Seasons hits”. (Actually, I’ve been wanting to create a New England village for ages — I’ve been gathering inspiration pics for it since before Sims 3 even came out!)

Since I only have so many hours in the day that I can devote to Simming, I decided to combine the two projects. (Hey, at least I’m efficient in my fickleness! :-D )

After a disastrous attempt to make my own world in CAW, I ended up choosing to build my village in Johnnywr’s beautiful world, Matkooskee. Awesims’ Pounawea was also a serious contender, but in the end I decided I didn’t want to mess with the unique New Zealand thing it has going on, so I’ll either play it on its own or use it as a vacation destination. Matkooskee seemed a logical choice since Johnnywr based it on islands off the coast of Maine…perfect!

I probably could have kept most of Johnnywr’s lots, as they were lovely, but I really wanted to build a town from scratch (because I’m framming insane), so I deleted everything except for the pond/fishing lots…I don’t really enjoy building those. ;)

So, after that long preamble, here’s what the map looks like:

Whimsett Cove

I’m calling my version “Whimsett Cove”, and I may never finish it, but I’m really enjoying it so far! I’m working on it in my “low CC” save, which is rapidly becoming a “medium CC” save, mostly because I’ve been downloading colonial window sets like mad. :-P But hey, variety is good!
