The Town Green

Now for the town green…it’s actually two lots, bisected by a sidewalk, but I tried to make it look like one long park. Since most of the New England village greens I looked at are pretty sparsely landscaped (here’s one example), I don’t have much in the way of flowers, shrubbery, pathways, fences, etc. It’s mostly just trees (which I hope will look awesome in autumn! :D ), benches, a few monuments and deco, and a gazebo.

I don’t imagine my Sims doing much here except for maybe reading a book, playing catch, or maybe having a town celebration. I really have no idea how that Seasons marker will work for transforming lots with the seasons, but I might end up putting an ice rink here in winter or something like that (in which case, I’ll have to move some stuff around). ANYWAY! Sorry for the ramble…on to some pics!

They’re pretty simple lots, but hopefully they’ll look better once I put more buildings around them! :-)

Happy Simming!

  1. Again, looking brilliant, Jen! The town green would be the perfect place to go with a good book on a nice, sunny day. Are Seasons available for sims 3 now? Is it like the other one, where the SimIdiots run to the window every time it rains?

    • LOL! I hope not, Scally! We won’t get Seasons until November, but I’m all excited for it, so I’m planning wayyy ahead! :-D It’s kind of weird actually; we’ll get the Supernatural Expansion Pack next week, and then Seasons two months later. It’s kind of a crazy time to be a Sims 3 player. XD (in a fun way, I mean!) I have no doubt the Sims 3 Sims will do idiotic things when it rains, though…

      • Wait, Seasons is out only two months after the other one?!? Blimey, Eaxis is really milking the Sim CashCow, aren’t they? Or am I just being cynical? ;-)

        • Ohhh yes, they are definitely milking the Sim CashCow. :) They just released a world in the S3 Store that came with maybe 38 items (about 10 of which are rabbithole objects) — and it costs about 40 US dollars. A world and some objects…for the price of a whole expansion pack! :-O Seems a bit desperate to me! Of course, I bought it. *rolls eyes* But I figure if we don’t buy their Sims 3 stuff, they’ll chuck the whole Sims franchise as we know it and just go for making stupid online games like Sims Social, which is already making them loads of money. *sad laugh*

          • Good lord. Ah, well, now I know who Zynga models their business practice on. Even sadder than paying that much money for a world and some objects is the fact that I got re-hooked on Farmville because nobody would send my friend a chicken. Sigh. Admittedly, I’ve only spent $25 on it, but still. Sigh.

  2. Aw, Jen, it’s purely gorgeous again, my friend! It really looks like a city park with some memorials. I love the green! I can totally picture the Sims playing tag here! So perfect. And such a serene place!
    LOOOOOVE it!

    • Ooh, tag would be great there! Thanks for the idea, Sandy — I’ll have to bring some kids here to play! :-D Thanks for your comment!! *bighugs*

  3. I love how you’re already planning for Seasons! I absolutely cannot WAIT! I still remember how insanely awesome it was to get it in TS2.

The park looks gorgeous. It looks like a lot of the parks I grew up seeing in the more heavily populated cities around my hometown!

  4. I love this projects Jen! I wasn’t really sure what a New England Village was at first so i did a bit of googleing and am i right in saying New England is kinda like England in America?? from when the first English people went to America or something along those lines :/ sorry if i got that all wrong! I had heard of New England a bit before and knew some stuff about it but never realized what exactly it was and that it had so many places named after places over here, i was quite excited to find when i was looking up New England that there is a place called Portsmouth which is cool as i love in the original one haha
Anyway sorry for my ramble, i think your New England Village looks beautiful and i love it! The town green looks like a really lovely place to go on an afternoon and when seasons comes out i think it will work perfectly to hold though festivals. I also like how simple it is with not so much going on that you don’t know were to look! Oh and i must say i love the ship restaurant place it looks really cool and i want to go there! I’m really looking forward to seeing the rest of the word, its looking great :D I’ve been trying for most of my summer to create my own English villages, town and country side (the Isle of Newshore mark 2) with out much success but now seeing you’ve used an already created world is such a good idea haha don’t know why i had never thought of it, so now its on with the hunt to find that world :)

    • CALLUM!!! It’s awesome to see you! It’s funny, I just think of “New England” as the far northeastern corner of the U.S. without really pondering over how it got that name! :D But yes, I believe it was called that by the English settlers who formed the “New England” colony in the 1600s. It’s a unique area of the country and a favorite vacation destination for people who love fall colors and seafood! :) Thanks so much for your kind comments about my project! My computer is broken at the moment so I haven’t been able to work on it lately…although the Supernatural EP has been a distraction, too. :D I’d LOVE to see what you’re working on! Are you blogging anything about your new town? *runs off to look*

      • Yeah it looks like i really beautiful place and i would love to go there one day, along with the rest of America and i suppose the world haha and i’m glad i got most of its history right too :) Well i hope your computer fixes soon i just cant wait to see more of Whimsett cove! Oo and what is supernatural like? I’m not sure ill be getting it as i quite like my Sims to be realistic – so i properly wouldn’t uses the content much – but also my computer isn’t great so i’m not sure it would handle to many expansions, and i want seasons soo much more!
Oh and on the new town front, there is not much happening :( I’ve been a bit more busy then i expected and haven’t got very much done and now i’m back at collage so ill have to wait and see what time i get, also i might wait till seasons and see how i can tailor my world to that :) so i was considering now working with the River view map as its defiantly my favorite (free) world in the Sims, but thanks for taking an interest and i do have a few more lots and stories i want to blog about as soon as i get the time to! So watch this space :D
