The Burrs Expand…Slowly

Last we left the Burrs of Burr Cottage (my new New Legacy Challenge fam), my founder Azalea Burr had just gotten married to the love of her life, Vincentio. Now, in any normal legacy, the wedding would be followed by a short honeymoon in a limo and some good old-fashioned woohoo. But Azalea and Vincentio live out in the boonies, so their double bed hadn’t shown up yet. (And they didn’t have a party, so no limo, either.)

What’s an eager and amorous couple to do? Why, buy a Love Tub, of course! I just couldn’t wait for them to make some baby Burrs.

“This thing won’t actually cook us, will it?”

Just look at Azalea in her modest bathing attire. No string bikinis for this proper lass!

The Burrs of Burr Cottage

OK, the Apocalypse Challenge is hard. I crashed and burned, big time. Didn’t even reach the top of the first career track. I’d start over but the thought of playing another founder through college is cringe-inducing. Gah.

So on to happier things…like my new Legacy family, who are doing rather well, I must say. If you’d like to hear all about them, please read on…

This is my founder, Azalea Burr. I gave her that weird botanical name because one of the handicaps I chose for her is “Green Thumb”. I envisioned many trees and flowers and kids with botanical names in her future.

Burr Family
“Ahh, isn’t nature beautiful?”

Azalea had to be a Family Sim because she has “Strict Family Values”. No woohoo before marriage in this legacy! And every woohoo has to be a “Try for Baby”, because the Burrs don’t believe in birth control. (I hope that doesn’t come back to bite me in the you-know-what later on…)

I also gave her the “Noble Composure” and “Hypochondriac” handicaps, so she has a 10 Neatness and a fondness for high culture. I figured that makes her a bit of a Miss Priss.

Misty’s Mistake

Hello again! Do you guys remember me? I’m the Ravelo kid that talked your ear off last time about what my family’s been up to.

Ravelo Family

My name is Tennyson, by the way, and I’m a 4th generation Ravelo. I’ll probably be the heir to the Ravelo legacy someday, but not until I graduate from college, and that’s far far faaaar away. Really far. Like, centuries from now. I’ll be an old man by then. And really, what’s the rush? I’m having a good time being a kid.

Catch-Up Time

Good morning, ladies and gentlemen! I’m Tennyson Ravelo, and I’m here to catch you up on what’s been going on with my family.

Ravelo Family

First off, you’re probably wondering who I am. Well, I’m a fourth generation Ravelo, the son of Anastacia and Ravi. You might remember my mom –

The Fate of Third Generation

From the desk of Trent Ravelo

Hey girls! It’s your old dad here. Thought I’d drop you a note and see how you’re doing at ALT. How is old Professor Tasselhoff? Is she still giving pop quizzes at 6:00 AM on a Saturday? Man, I hated that. Not that I went to class much…er…anyway, your mom and I are enjoying our second week of vacation in Newland Harbor, which is the most scenic little town you can imagine. That’s a little play on words there, you know, because we shot half of She Sells Seashells in Newland Harbor and had to build most of the town from scratch. So it’s not a town so much as a really solidly constructed movie set. Get it now? Scenic? Movie scenes? Hahaha…haha…oh, never mind. Your old pop’s past his prime as far as crafting a decent joke goes.

At last I still have my looks! What a handsome devil, eh? (What do you mean I’m conceited? Bah!) Here’s me in front of the lighthouse in Newland Harbor:

Movin’ Right Along

Hey guys, thank you so much for all of the comments and helpful suggestions. It makes me feel really good to know so many of you enjoyed and were inspired by the Shanleys. I’ve been pondering what to do with them for the past few days, and I’ve finally come to a decision. Your feedback helped a LOT. For awhile I seriously considered starting a new Legacy with Zuzu Shanley, but I think what I’m going to do is just say goodbye to the Shanleys for good. I’ll definitely miss them, and they’ll always be one of my favorite families, but I’m ready to move on. To be honest, I hadn’t played them on a regular basis since 10th gen. I kept trying to revive them and renew my interest in them, but I wasn’t having much success, so maybe this was for the best.

Learning the Hard Way

Well, after banging my head against the wall repeatedly trying to figure out why two of my neighborhoods had ceased to appear in my neighborhood chooser menu (as I ranted about in this comment), I finally figured out the problem. I had thought it was an Open For Business problem, but I was wrong. This was completely and utterly my own fault (although I can point the finger at OFB for making me muck with things in the first place, grumble grumble).

Merry Measures (Part II)

Flora the Housekeeper was desperate. She had just witnessed Mr. and Mrs. De Groff — who had been married for ten years at least — kissing in the wagon outside as if they had never kissed each other before. How strange! How incredibly curious! she thought, twisting it around in her mind until it became bigger than it was. And now that it was big, she just had to tell someone about it. But who? Nellie? Yes, Nellie would do.

After a brief search of the main floor, Flora found Nellie standing in the middle of the study, paging through a tattered book. Flora entered the room on tip-toe, as if worried someone might hear, and closed the door gently behind her. Just as dramatically, she glanced around the room to make sure no one else was present, then leaned forward and gasped, “You won’t believe what I just saw!”

With an almost guilty flush of her cheeks, Nellie set down the book and took a step forward. “What? What is it?”

Flora and Nellie
