The next day I was promoted to Teacher’s Aide at the school and received a generous bonus, which allowed me to mosey on into town and buy an engagement ring. What can I say, I was kind of an impetuous guy when it came to women. OK, when it came to anything. I tended to leap before I looked. But since it hadn’t failed me yet, I kept right on leaping.
That night, I asked Eris Firestick to be my wife.
Much to my happiness, she said “yes”.
The very next night (after my promotion to Substitute Teacher — Mrs. K had to go on maternity leave and I took her place), we got married in a quiet ceremony on the beach, just the two of us.
I promised her I would always be faithful, loving, and passionate, a flame that would never go out.
She rolled her eyes and said, “Joe, enough with the cheesy puns already. It’s bad enough that my name is going to be Eris Shmakova. It sounds like somebody sneezing and swearing at the same time.”
We laughed and exchanged rings. (Thank god for another promotion bonus, or I wouldn’t have been able to afford those.)
I hadn’t expected to get married so quickly after settling on Lemur Island, but everything about it felt absolutely right.
Eris seemed pretty jazzed about it, too. Even though she’s not quite as sentimental as I am, she did look adoringly into my eyes and say, “I don’t know what I see in you, Joe, except that my biological clock is ticking, and you’re my only option.â€
Of course she was joking, but that’s Eris for you. Can’t quite take a moment seriously. Me, I’m just a big ol’ sap. And a little on the superstitious side. I saw a shooting star just minutes after we tied the knot, and I interpreted it as a good omen.
Eris had to rain on my parade by pointing out that it’s just a falling hunk of debris burning up in the atmosphere, which isn’t exactly something you want to use as a metaphor for promising new marriage. I told her she’s probably right.
But then, while she was digging in the sand, she found an old necklace made of beads and a bit of pearly shell.
“Now this,†she said, “is a good omen.â€
I laughed. “How is that any better than a shooting star? Somebody lost that necklace, and they’ll never find it again. It’s gone from them forever. What if that happens to us?â€
“It won’t,†she said. “We found the necklace, didn’t we? It’s like…finding a treasure. That’s a good thing.â€
“Eh, you just like jewelry,†I teased. But I was actually moved by her comparing our relationship to a treasure. (Again, me = sap.) And the necklace looked beautiful on her.
Eris had moved in the day before and brought her double bed along with her, so we were able to sleep side by side that night. I’ve never rested better in my whole life.

Well, Joe looked so confuzzled at the Mahjong table (maybe everyone did, but I was only focused on Joe), and then suddenly he and Eris were in the bedroom making out (I have ACR installed now, heh). They left Aella and Gabriel just sitting there at the mahjong table! Anyway, I figured maybe Joe just wasn’t enjoying the game and Eris followed him to the bedroom, etc. Since he’s a knowledge Sim he was probably disappointed in himself that he didn’t pick up on the game right away. ;-)

I would love to have a beach wedding, too! A friend of mine got married on a sand dune in North Carolina, and it was so cool. I’m glad you like the house. I’d give you a tour but it’s already different (second story has been added). Maybe a couple of updates down the road?

I’m curious Jen, I spot stairs in that house and I really really want to know where they’re going to and how because it doesn’t look like you have room for a second floor… (btw it’s AWESOME, it looks like it just belongs right there on the beach).
Joe is such an adorably hopless romantic. I hope he’s ready to handle the baby bumb :D Hmm I wonder if Eris will have any ‘firery’ hormonal pregnancy moments in store for him :P
LOL, I forgot about those stairs. They’re going to an eventual second story. I think in the pic above they’re just leading to a little bit of split level flooring. Or maybe they go all the way up. But there’s nothing up there yet to tempt the Sims upward. :-) And haha at the ‘fiery’ hormonal pregnancy moments. Unfortunately (or fortunately as the case may be) it was a very uneventful pregnancy. ;-P
I think my security word says it all. That house is real ‘swish’ :D

That’s one of my favorite colors, too! Actually, I’ll take any shade of blue. ;-) And neither Joe nor Eris are Family Sims, so they didn’t have all that many kids. But the ones they did have are pretty cool!

Love the difference in their philosophies. He sees a shooting star as a good omen while she sees finding a lost necklace as one. Doesn’t matter in the end as long as they both have their good omens, right?

Yeah, I thought it was pretty cool that they saw a shooting star and found a necklace the evening of their wedding. That’s the first time I’ve had a Sim find a necklace (I haven’t been playing much since BV). After that, Eris found earrings (which she is wearing in the baby bump pic) and another necklace, which she passed down to one of her kids. And Joe found a necklace, too. Cool stuff!

It’s actually a combination of two mods: a sky mod from Garden of Shadows, and Gunmod’s Radiance Lighting System, which has a nice hour of “dusk” every night.

Cute update! The view from their new deck is absolutely breathtaking, and it makes me miss the days my family would vacation at my aunt’s beach house! I love the beachy feel of this new legacy, and I can’t wait to see the new baby!

Their new house is lovely and a really nice turquoise for a house on the beach. Although I really liked his old shack, too. All the little beachy details scattered around everywhere really give it an atmosphere.

I love your legacies. Since I haven’t see Joe’s kid i can’t give my whole thought but out of all your legacies, the one with the best looking kids is the Ravelos. But all your stories kick major booty!
