Newford: A Victorian Country House for You

I’ve put another house up on Mod the Sims 2 for you guys to download if you wish — it’s a Victorian country estate that I started building awhile ago and finally finished. Woo! It’s pretty massive so if your computer has trouble with large lots, you might want to abstain from downloading this one. (Or you could download it and have it sitting in your ‘hood just for looks…)

Newford

Click on the link below for more info, a ton of pics, and a link to the MTS2 page where you can download the lot. Have fun!

This house is almost completely Maxis-only. The only custom content I’ve included are four exterior walls from Marina’s Sims. If you don’t want them, you could delete them after downloading or use the Sims 2 Pack Clean Installer to install the package and select “Lot Only”.

If you wish to make the house look more era-appropriate, I recommend Maylin’s 1910 phone and lethe_s’s medieval fire alarm. This lot will work just fine without them, though.

Lot Size: 4×4
Price: §215,737
Bedrooms: 4
Bathrooms: 5
EPs required: University, Nightlife, OFB, Pets, Seasons

NOTES:
I left half of the second floor unfurnished to keep the house less costly and object-intensive, so you can think of it as an unused attic, or fill it up with whatever you wish.

The nursery is next to the kitchen and bathroom for easy access to the fridge and bathtub, but you could also convert it into a room for a live-in maid or butler. (Easy live-in maid/butler creation: make a Knowledge Sim and give them a Neatness of 10. Move them into your mansion and direct them to cook and clean all day — they’ll be happy as a lark!)

Also, the fridge, trash compactor, and juicer are in the Pantry; this is to keep the very modern appliances out of the way so the kitchen has a more authentic Victorian-era feel.

  1. Great guzzling gumdrops! Now THAT is what I call a house! I am going to download ASAP! Did I mention how fabulous you are at building?! Thank you, thank you, thank you a hundred times over. I really like the layout of this house, Jen. Thankfully my hard-drive isn’t even 1/4 full yet so it’ll take this house without a problem…hopefully! :)

  2. Wow… that house is amazing! Great job. I’ll definitely be downloading it. Thanks for sharing it with us.

  3. I LOVE IT!!! I especially love the elevator (which I actually just found out how to use myself last night)!!!

  4. You have MEGA patience (or as my brother would say, too much time on your hands). I couldn’t finish the parts in build mode before scraping it because I was bored. Also, I quit legacy family’s before 4th gen! Maybe thats because I made them a giginormous house that runs slow though. I should make a legacy family that has a small house all the way through. But they’re my only rich families! How will I families into houses like this one or … Gruenwald Estate (sighs with delight)(seriosly, I LOVE that place!). Okay, enough babbling all over the Internet to myself. I need to get to bed.

  5. Hi. wow! another great house. I won’t be downloading it as it looks way too big for me to handle!.

    Keep simming!

    See ya.

  6. Hey Jen, I have a question about the Dunnavent mansion, in the bird’s eye view of the first floor, wats that room right above the butler’s pantry, just off the kitchen? Thanks!
