Stuff!

Hey guys, I’m finally getting around to answering some of the questions you left in the comments for Life at Villa Ravelo. I thought I’d put them in a post since not everyone goes back to read comments from a week ago!

Thanks to everyone for the great feedback, by the way, as always!

Also, I’m working on a Ravelo update for tonight or tomorrow night, and then I’m hoping to do an Annabel Island update before Christmas, but since it took me a week longer than I anticipated to do the last one, who knows how it will go. So why do I even mention it, if I can’t make any promises? Well, because I hate when this blog is blank for days on end, and I want to let you know that I’m always working on something. Some updates just take longer than others. And sometimes my brain goes on vacation to Maui or Mallorca and doesn’t even send me a postcard. Stupid brain.

Anyway…on with the replies to your questions…

Nita – You’re right, I changed Misty’s hair to light brown because she was otherwise a clone of Anastacia (I forgot to do the create-a-random-Sim before her birth). I thought it’d be nice (and easier to tell everyone apart) if they all had a different hair color. And yeah, I replaced all of the Maxis default eyes with Lyran eyes. I really like them. Hooray for your snow days! I hope you enjoyed them. :-)

channe – Woot! Let us know when you get your blog up and running, if you’re still doing it!

Eva M – Yup, the “permaplat” and Lifetime Wants were an addition with the Uni EP. It makes it easier to get the platinum tombstones, but they’re worth fewer points in the Uni/Nightlife Challenges, so it evens out! Your comment about your Sim shrink with his dancing hair made me laugh, by the way! I’m not sure who the heir will be just yet — I’m leaning towards Anastacia, but I think I might do a poll or something their senior year of college and see who wins! Kaela’s green eyes are from her grandmother Lauren and are the default replacement eyes created by Lyran.

Kay – You asked about the girls’ stats, and unfortunately I don’t have them handy, but I’ll post them in the next update!

Scally – I give you…Don Ho.

PRMami – I like the holiday party pack, though it is way overpriced for what you get (especially since you can get a good chunk of it for free on the Sims 2 site). I do love the windows and the lights (and the dancing snowman who plays Christmas music!), plus I’m a crazed Sims addict who just has to buy everything Maxis puts out, so…take that into consideration. ;-)

Kay – The Royal Kingdom/TV Show sounds totally awesome, but I’d love to see whatever Sims stories you want to share with us, because I really miss your blog!

Blu – Ooh, did you make those PJs you mentioned? Can we see them and/or download them? :-D

  1. Hey Jen, thanks for this one! Now I know far more ;) – I really really have to get university sometime – this would make things a lot easier, and as I am not really taking down all those points for the original legacy challenge it wouldn’t matter anyway. Oh, I should actually get to taking points by now, otherwise I’ll forget them!! Oh, an how do you by the way exchange the usual maxis eyecolors with custom ones? Anastacia is so pretty… she shall be the heir :) – I am really hoping for some of my Morrigans to die now, I need that room!! I’m still stuck with only three gen-6 babies and millions of elders and they all just don’t wanna die *lol*. But Stuart’s pretty close to leave us… Yay, a new Ravelo update this week, I CAN’T WAIT!! So, please hurry *lol* – til then!

  2. Awwww! *blushes* Why thank ya kindly, ma’m. :D I’m working on ideas for a new blog, I think I’ll have it up sometime in the first quarter of 2006. Might make it earlier, though! We’ll see.
My problem with the Royal Kingdom thing is a funny one, I just can’t make a castle for the royals! I keep making them either too small or too big or too complex to get around. :( I’ll come up with something though, I’m sure.
Other than that I’m about to start a new Nightlife Extreme Legacy Challenge. Should be fun!

  3. Eva M – Those poor Morrigan elders, just taking up room in your Legacy house! Haha. I know how frustrating that can be. As for the default eyes, I don’t know how you would do it normally (it probably involves renaming files), but Lyran’s are already set up to replace the default, so all I had to do was download, unzip, and put them in my Downloads folder.

    Mieko – Well said!

Rachel – By the way, when are we going to see another update from you? :-D

Kay – Haha, I just realized I put you in my post twice. I guess because you’re doubly cool? I’m totally jazzed that you’re doing the Nightlife Extreme Challenge. :-) I hope you’ll keep us updated on how it’s going even if your new blog isn’t ready!

  4. Thankyou! I haven’t yet been willing to replace the Maxis eyes but I found Lyran 2.0 on your links page, thing and found a ton of cool stuff there! And, are you kidding? I love snow days! I even like shoveling snow since it comes only a couple times a year! The snow is so beautiful that you just don’t want to disturb it but what’s the point of snow if you can’t build snow forts and snow men and…you get the point. The snow melted but we have new snow on the ground and it looks like my dream of a white Christmas just might come true! I have one more thing. I was wondering how that girl’s Christmas in the City went. Maxis has made these expansions on just the right dates that you can send the girl to the city with Nightlife and she can have Christmas too! Well, sorry you had to read all of that. I’m in a rambling mood today! :D

  5. Kay: now with twice the coolness! XD
Aww, thank you again Jen! And I definitely will! I might even put up pictures in like Photobucket or something if it turns out really cool. :D

  6. Yes, I just finished watching Christmas in the City Part I and I was wondering when you would be releasing the second part. That movie inspired me to do some great things with my family! Yay! Good luck with the next update!

  7. On my Nightlife Challenge, so far so good! I got her the 4×4 lot (I distrust the big ones) and familyfunded her money to 1500. Oh, and her name is Agnes McKay. :D She’s got the palest skin, green eyes and red hair in that short slick mid-parted cut, and I put her in the tweed-y brown business suit for starters.
Starting out I got her a shower, the mini-fridge, the cheapest three person couch and a bookcase. No toilet! She spent a lot of time going to the Mapel Springs Spa, let me tell you.
She’s a Fortune Sim with a slightly tweaked Gemini personality, with the lifetime want of earning 100,000. I got her set up in the Medicine career.
Then it was dating time! A blind date was requested, she paid a buck and got her money’s worth. The guy (I can’t remember his name!) was sweet, but unfortunately had a bad case of beatenis byus ugleetreesius. He had pretty dark blue eyes, nice black hair and amazing cheekbones, but his face was very long and had MASSIVE trout lips and a nose that was so smashed it managed to be flat and buckled at the same time.
So not heir making material, or even ‘piece on the side’ such. Good enough for a quick romantic fling, however!
Eventually things evolved to where she asked him to move in. She needed the money, and I thought with his skills he should be able to get a good job. Unfortunately it turned out his skills were awesome, but his personality (1 Lazy! 2 neat!) sucked vacuum. I still gave him a makeover and let him get a job, but I could only take the slouchy grubby stuff for a day before I kicked him out.
So, since she still didn’t have enough dough to get a really good date from the matchmaker, I sent her out looking on her own..

  8. Actually, yeah, I made those PJs just today! They’ve got Sanrio characters on them, and I’m thinking of putting them up for download on MTS2. Maybe after I make another one– and try them on some of my Sims. ^^; I still haven’t played the game itself since I made them, even (but it wasn’t even 12 hours ago, and I don’t get to play daily, so that’s pretty okay).
But I’ve definitely got to put them on my Sims, make them run around and play some games, and take pictures of them in the pajamas.
Probably of them jumping on their beds. Oh, those crazy Sims. Never ever ever breaking their couch cushipns, or their bed mattresses! :D
(I’ve, um, had a bit of experience in jumping on, and subsequently breaking, couch cushions. >_>; I don’t know, it’d be another reason to call the repairman, right? I think it’d be a nice enough addition. Except some Sims are couch-jumping fiends, so it would really be annoying for some people. Oh, well.)

Also, with the Earthbound system thing from the last post: Yeah, Earthbound was an SNES game. Kind of a sleeper, but it’s a great game. I’ve fallen into the pattern of playing it for my younger brothers to watch, the past few nights. (I’m juuust next to the third Your Sanctuary location. Woot!)
    That reminds me to make that Harvest Moon version of a video game in TS2, but I really should finish making some other things, first. ^^;
