(This picture has nothing to do with Build Mode, but I needed a nice pic to put here!)
Happy Late Night Day, folks! I took pics of clothing, hair, and build items, but I’m only posting build items tonight because I’m a tired puppy with a crappy cold. ;-p I hope to post clothing/hair tomorrow and perhaps Buy Mode the day after. There’s just a lot of STUFF. And yet, it never seems like enough. Why is that? Oh yeah! Because I am a greedy little monkey.
Anyhoo, here we go with Build Mode…
Walls
Most of the new walls can be found in the Wall Sets category. Kind of an odd mix — some art deco, some grungy/industrial, some modern.
Windows
There seem to be two sets – a slightly grungy “dive bar†set and a gleaming modern set.
Doors
…to match the windows.
Flooring and Fireplaces
New items include a lone tin ceiling tile which will look awesome in old Victorian buildings, and a bunch of oddball floor tiles which are all found in Miscellaneous. There’s also a new fireplace which is enormous and takes up four tiles.
(I put that light in there to highlight the tiles – you’ll see it again when I get to Buy Mode.)
(Looks like a crazy quilt!)
(This one includes two tiles from the previous pic because they seemed to “match†with the ones I had left.)
Fences and Gates
We have three new fences and one gate. The cool thing about the gate is that it has a fancy little security box attached to it. Perfect for celebrity mansions and such.
Half-walls
Yay, we have half-walls in Sims 3! OK, so we had some lovely custom content versions we could use before now (I used Flabaliki’s, myself), but I really like the variety here.
Pools
Using a variety of convex and concave shapes that can be resized via a slider, we can now build curved pools. My pool is kind of lame, but it gives you an idea of what can be done. Still no diving boards, though. *heaves a sigh in EA’s direction*
Fountains
I’ll have to play around with these some more, too, but it’s very much like the new pool tool – you place concave and convex shapes in a pattern to create the fountain. (I think you can just make a square one, too, as with pools, but I forgot to check.) Then you place fountain objects to make the geysers and such. A few are pictured below, but there were many more in the catalog.
Plants
There are three new trees – a Very Tall Fir Tree (which is, as you can see, Very Tall indeed), a Scotch Pine, and a Young Maple (which has some leaves turning yellow, how purdy!). There’s also a yellow version of the base game heather plant. That’s it for foliage.
And that’s it for Build Mode!
Oh wow! Thank you for that! I don’t plan on installing it for a bit, so it’s nice to see what’s available.
Love this Jenba. I live in England so I still have to wait for a few days. I love how I can indulge my impatient side at your blog :)
I love those overviews you do, keep up the good work-very impressive indeed!
Thanks for posting this, jenba. My walkthrough won’t include the objects and new build/buy mode stuff. I won’t even show the new clothes (unless my sim is actually wearing them). :Op Hehe. My walkthrough will be my sim-self in Bridgeport … checking out the mechanics of celebrity, vampires. etc. ;O)) Good stuff, jenba!
Thank you for sharing the build mode stuff! I’ll probably try to pick the game up at lunch today or tomorrow, but it won’t get installed until this weekend. So it’s nice to see what I’ll be getting when I do install it. :)
I look forward to the next installment!
Yay pretty! I look forward to seeing more. Golly if things look good just sitting there, I cant wait until you build / redo a house! Whew, its gonna be even more gorgeous than before… is that even possible?!
Thanks so much for posting this Jen, it’s really handy to see the different items seperatly! (instead of having to trawl though the catalogue, where I tend to miss things). Looking forward to seeing the rest if you put them up. Hope you are having fun playing LN so far!
Ooh…I Really Cannot Wait Until I Am Able 2 Play TS3! These Objects Are Lovely!
