I’ve Got a Crush on You

Good afternoon! Maude here. Is it just me, or is Mt. Geneva positively swimming with teenagers? Hormones and drama and spectacle everywhere I look! It wears me out, and ghosts don’t wear out easily, let me tell you. Oh well, I guess I’d better get used to it, because the teen invasion shows no signs of ebbing!

Brace yourselves for another young romance, dear readers. This time little Ferris Blakemore — though not so little anymore — falls under love’s inescapable spell.

Tess says yes

It started one Saturday with Ferris asking her mom if she would take her shopping for some new clothes. Tess jumped at the idea, since she had some extra money now and was longing to buy a new outfit herself. Ferris was thrilled and suggested they go to Bev’s Boutique, a combination clothing and game shop. Little did Tess know that Ferris had an ulterior motive!

Ferris tries on a new outfit

Once there, Tess and Ferris tried on numerous outfits, and even found some they liked, but Ferris kept peering over at the other side of the store, where they kept the games and magazines. As Tess paid for their new clothes, Ferris wandered nonchalantly in that direction.

Ferris talks to George

I followed and found her engaged in spirited conversation with George McCarthy, a boy she knew from school. Apparently Ferris had seen him in the hallway many times, but had never gotten a chance to speak with him. Now that she had the chance, she certainly wasn’t shy about it!

“So, do you wanna hang out tonight?” she asked him. He, being the bashful sort, blushed to the tips of his ears and glanced around the store. I saw his manager give him the old eyebrow before going back to straightening the video games.

“Uhhh…sure,” he replied. A customer appeared then and George had to turn his attention away from Ferris. She didn’t seem to mind, though. With a dreamy glint in her eye, she floated back over to her mom.

Ferris tries out her new dance moves

Later that night, Tess went out with some co-workers from Happy Lawn. With the house to herself, Ferris donned her fancy new clothes and gave George a call. She practiced her dance moves in the living room while waiting for him to arrive.

Ferris and George sit on the sofa

Things were a bit awkward at first. Ferris seemed nervous this time, and George fumbled with his words.

Ferris and George dance

Suddenly Ferris’s favorite song blasted out of the radio, and she hopped up off the sofa, unable to keep still. “Come on!” she urged George, who hesitated before joining her. It didn’t take long, though, before he, too, was flailing his arms about strangely and gyrating in a rather suggestive manner. Kids do enjoy the strangest things.

Ferris and George hug

Yet again, music brings the youngsters together, as Ferris and George find their nervousness melting away and their regard for each other growing by the minute. Will Ferris and George’s puppy love stand the test of time? Will Tess go back to man-hunting and carousing now that she has more money? Will Maude drown in a sea of frenzied hormonal activity? Stay tuned, my dears!
