Baby, It’s Cold Outside

Good afternoon, all! If the fates allow, I will be posting my next Burr update sometime tonight. If you’re really eager for this bit of Burriness, you could send me some good vibes as encouragement. Or maybe some cookies. Yes, cookies would do it.

For those of you who don’t enjoy the Burrs, I am sorry. Thank you for visiting anyway! I have to warn you I will probably be posting on the Burrs exclusively until I have completed their legacy. This means no Ravelo or Shady Bluff updates for a good while. Since a few of you do seem to like the Burrs, and I’m enjoying them quite a bit myself, I am determined to play them until that very last rosy-cheeked Burr is born in my little Sim-fantasy version of the 1980s. And who knows, maybe by then I’ll be tired of them, or maybe I’ll want to play them to the 2000s and have them move to Shady Bluff. As I mentioned before, I’m wretched at multi-tasking and have a hard time juggling several stories at once, so this seems to be the best solution in my eyes.

As for Maude, she has relocated to Shady Bluff herself, as you may recall from her remarks during the Scavenger Hunt awhile back. If you haven’t figured it out already, I’m setting up Shady Bluff as a sort of “new” Mt. Geneva (since I lost the old one), a catch-all for my favorite Sims and stories. That way I don’t have to juggle as much — everyone will be part of the same plots and sub-plots and chronology. I have a bunch of stuff up my sleeve for that one, but there’s still much to do in preparation, so I’m working on it here and there in between playing the Burrs. I apologize since I probably did the Shady Bluff teaser with Kaylynn way too early. It has evolved into a much larger project now, and I want to make sure I do it justice.

In the meantime, I’ve set up an account at FeedBlitz so that you guys can subscribe to receive my updates via e-mail. If you sign up, you’ll receive an e-mail whenever I post something new. It’ll contain just the headline and a few lines of text, so you can determine whether or not you want to read it. This way you could watch out for the Ravelos or Shady Bluff or whatever you enjoy most. It’s also an option for people who want to be notified of updates but don’t like to use RSS readers and the like. Just sign up below and the notifications will start rollin’ in. Let me know if you have any questions about it or problems with it.

  1. Great idea with the email update thingamajig, Jen. :) And I’ll be here for your updates no matter what family they are – I love ’em all!

Also, yes. Seasons = love. I. Am. So. Excited. Just as much – if not more so – than I was for Pets. Two of the things I was wanting the most in two expansion packs in a row. I’m in heaven.

  2. I really like the idea of mailing all of us readers when you’ve updated, especially since your such a great simmer/blogger. I think I’m going to subscribe after I get back from vacation though…

NO FREAKIN’ WAY! SEASONS is coming out in February!?!?! I thought it would come out like in May or something….I’m so excited! That link was awesome…penguins, snow, sun, fall, crazy plant people…so awesome! I can’t wait for SEASONS to come out, probably even more than PETS. I agree with Audrey, I am also in Sim Heaven!

  3. Well, I personally just love the Burr’s and the fact that you will be updating on just them is so exciting to me! :)

Seasons is going to be so awesome and I cannot wait!

Also, I subscribed to your blog thing and I think it’s a really good idea. :D

  4. I subscribed to It, I absolutely LOVE your website and it is one of the websites I check EVERYDAY besides E-mail of course and I can’t wait for the next update! But take your time, ok nevermind, I want a new story!(or blog whatever you want to call it.)

  5. Hey, Jen, THANK YOU FOR THE UPDATE!!! My life has been nothing but misery and annoyance and this calmed me down a lot. (Considering it took me long enough to get to my daily checking of your blog, all the replyer’s above LIZ’s fault…) Anyway, I can’t wait for the latest Burr update AND ravelo update…That’s like my main family, they were the ones who started me on my blog. My favorite from Gen 4 is Tenny, LUV U!! *sends kisses to Tenny, while his girlfriend glares*

  6. I actually enjoy your Burrs family the most! :)
I’m really looking forward to your next update! And Seasons is gonna be /awesome/!

  7. Rock on, Jen! :D As long as I get Jenba writings in some form or another I’m happy. Like I’ve said many times before you could write about soup cans and I’d read it. (Mmmm. Soup.)

I’m so in love with seasons! Have you seen the pictures of the new ‘monster’ as well, the plant people? :D The little plant toddlers are simply adorable, and I love the multitude of new interactions particular to ‘planties’. And the sheer fact the new neighborhood is going to be a BASE one instead of a new addition…!! Gleeeeee!

  8. I have no cookies to send so I shall send the good vibes :). I love love love the Burrs! I like anything you do actually, but the Burrs are definately fun! And seasons looks so cool…I wish we didn’t have to upgrade the computer to get it though. Oh well. Anyway, happy simming and take your time. No matter what you put up we enjoy it! :)

  9. I know you mentioned Maude above and the Shady Bluff stories, but I still gotta ask, even though I think that I know the answer: Is the beloved Annabel Island gone forever? It probably is, which is a shame because I was in love with that story. Absolutely IN LOVE. I mean like the way I love chocolate love. Haha, ok, well thanks anyway.

  10. My RSS feed makes me happy with updates; but the email thing is a good idea, too! It’s really cold outside… I think it was down to 10 degrees where I go to classes… brrrr! It’s on top of a mountain, so that’s why.

Can’t wait for more Burrs! I just got my first werewolf in my Boomtown hood (totally by accident… how does that even happen? It was to a sim that was visiting the lot!), so I’m interested to see that continue with the Burrs.

  11. So glad a new update is in the works! Sending you warm cookies and a tall glass of milk. It’s a good night for Burr’s!

  12. Thanks, you guys are the rockingest. :-)

I finally saw the penguin in the Seasons pics — he’s awesome! And those plant people! Quite creative on EA’s part. So glad to read about the hat-hair changing thing and the 6 new careers! Hopefully Seasons will make up for Pets being a little bit sparse on the new features side of things.

EVA! I haven’t seen you in forever! You asked about Annabel Island — well, I wouldn’t say it’ll NEVER come back, but if it does, it won’t be for some time. I haven’t checked to see if that account still crashes with the current graphics driver I have installed. I should check, though, because I miss the islanders, too. But I gotta be careful I don’t get too many stories going again, unfortunately.

  13. Hey Jen… I am totally happy with you continuing with the Burrs. I love all you stories though so I would be happy with whatever you did. And I can’t wait to see the Burr’s go through the generations. I have your webpage on my google reader so I get a notice everytime it updates so I won’t sign up for the email but i just wanted to let you know so you didn’t think I didn’t care =).

  14. I miss the Braytons, but I do LOVE the way that you do your legacies through time. I can’t say that I’m quite as fond of the Burrs, although you do write wonderful stories, and your pictures are just awesome. I know how much hard work it is just collecting the pictures for a story, particularly when you’re trying to get your sims into great positions and get those facial expressions, and then get everything organized into a story.

I love the house you’ve done for the Burrs though. I never did read the Shanley legacies (I started the second one, but I felt lost because I hadn’t read the first.

I’ve read the Burrs all the way through though, and they are great! I look forward to more updates! Thanks, Jen!

  15. Hi Jen!

I have been reading your page for a while, but have yet to comment. First of all I want to thank you for writing such great Sim stories for us all to read! Your stories are so much fun to read and the way you write them makes the Sims seem so real! I must say that the Ravelos are my absolute favorite family. I can’t wait for them to come back to your page! In the meantime, I’ll read whatever you post anyway.

    Thanks again!
