January Blahs

Hey guys, I’m still alive, I’ve just been taking an unexpected break from blogging. Real life sort of took over for awhile, but I’m eager to get back to my Sims stories. I’m just not sure what I want to work on the most. I have about a quarter of a Brayton/Annabel Island update written, and a few pics for the next year of the Ravelo girls at college, but for some reason those stories aren’t inspiring me much at the moment. I’m not sure why, since I really like the pics I took and am excited to share them with you. I’ll chalk it up to a phase I’m going through, or maybe it’s this cold winter weather and a case of the lazies. Who knows. Anyway, I’m sure I’ll be back at some point in the very near future, but I’m not sure when. Just wanted to let you guys know I’m still around, and still Simming. Hope you’re having fun, wherever you are!

  1. I don’t know about you, but it’s the veritable lack of sun that is getting to me. Here in Grand Rapids, Mi, we just had our first day of partial sun in 55 days. Pretty much all of us are having freak outs. And, it’s already back to raining today. At least it’s not snowing. Even a partial update about Cecily is cool. Or a new family, or anything. :)

  2. Yo guys.

I’m not really getting out much I’ve kinda broken my foot, so I’m on crutches for a while, which means I’ve been Simming an awful lot.

    On a different note:

My Hatcher Legacy 1G spouse has the Lifetime Want to Marry off 6 Children, instead of giving birth to the sixth child, she had twins! Oh joy, now they have seven. Anyway, she also has the impossible want of having 10 Kids. Do you think I should go for it???

  3. It seems like most Sims 2 blogs are slowing down now. I, for one, tend to play virtually non-stop for a weekend (then write a dozen little entries to post later) and not look at it again days and days. Those days and days and piling up lately, but that’s okay, too. I think January and February ought to be called Lazy Month 1 and Lazy Month 2, especially in this part of the country. Seriously, who can be ambitious when there’s no hope yet of regular sunshine and warm air? I’ve been spending most evening curled up on the couch with a book lately… which is probably more productive than simming, come to think of it… I’m rambling, because I don’t want to go be productive. ;-)

  4. That may be true for you but–
    …I haven’t played Ts2 in a year xD
Because I didn’t have a computer capable of playing it.
    But now I do.
Problem? I let my boyfriend borrow it and his little brothers scratched the freakin’ disc.
    ;___;

  5. Im glad to know you’re still simming Jen :) I cant wait for your next update, no matter what it is !
I recently posted a new update, I tried my hand at some Victorian style Brayton-inspired stories. They are not half as good as yours Jen but I had a go xD
Yeah, this weather just makes me want to play sims all day, with a cup of tea next to me. Shame I have math exams soon and have to study, heh.

  6. I’m currently grieving for the loss of my Sims 2 game :'( I had to sell it so I had enough money to get a bus pass so I could continue going to college…
Life always seems to intefere in The Sims, doesn’t it?

Kath, you aren’t the only one with math exams. Good luck to the both of us, eh?

Glad to hear you’re working on an update though Jen :)

  7. Hey guys, thank you for your comments and for being such loyal readers, even with my lack of updates. I felt inspired last night and worked on the next Ravelo update for a bit, so expect that sometime soon!

lil – Holy cow, 55 days of no sun? Yuck. :-/ You’re right, rain is better than snow, but I hope you get some more sun SOON! We’ve actually had a bit of sun lately, so that’s nice. It’s just…cold. The hibernation instinct sets in. :-)

    – Ouch, sorry to hear about your foot. I think you should definitely go for the Have 10 Kids want. You’re so close already! Plus it’s a fun mini-challenge to see if you can keep everyone alive and the social worker away. ;-)

Annette – Do you live in the Midwest, too? I agree with you on calling Jan-Feb Lazy Months 1 and 2. I think curling up on the couch with a good book is the ideal way to spend a winter evening. :-)

Mieko – That stinks. You might be able to get a replacement disk from Maxis for cheap. When I was having problems with my game discs awhile ago someone recommended that. I didn’t try it, though — I ended up just buying it brand new again on DVD. But you could give it a shot.

    Kath
    – Your Victorian stories look cool! I’m off to read them after this! And good luck on those math exams.

Lyra – You had to sell your Sims game? Oh no! They should sell discounted version of the game to students (you know, so you can spend more time Simming and less time studying :-D). I remember when I had to sell a good portion of my CD collection once just to be able to eat…it sucks. It’s great that you’re going to college, though. It’s worth giving up the Sims for. Good luck on your math exams, too. :-)

  8. I’m in the same way, Jen. I’ve been a big ol’ inactive lump these past few weeks, really. It’s rain rain rain rain rain – cloudy day – rain rain rain rain. Which is better than snow, admittedly, but still! ;) I want spring so badly. I try to make up for it by eating lots of exotic fruit and drinking strawberry juice and the like, but still. Sluggish.
On the other hand I’ve started up a new Legacy Challenge. This time I’m doing almost everything properly: she went for a week without moving anyone in etc. I’m giving things a new twist in that instead of having her immediately start breeding, I had her wait until the very last moment!
Her lifetime want is to graduate three kids from college, so I waited until she reached the highest level in the Military career and had 11 days before becoming an Elder. Then she got pregnant and had baby 1, and immediately (8 days) got pregnant with baby two. My plan is that when that baby pops she’ll get pregnant with number three, and have five days before becoming an Elder.
I think I might have that be the plan for all her heirs, too. Focus on work, *then* have babies just before you’re too old.

  9. Awww, Jen!! I miss your lubly updates. I also miss Maude and the Chinchilla family.

KAY – I like that twist! Hey, what if you had your sim get preggers, like, at the last possible moment and then make her aspiration plummet, and then have her drink elixir? I wonder if she’d just give birth as an elder. Hmmm…

  10. Keely – I think I’ve heard about people trying that, and the result being that the pregnancy dissapeared. I’m not sure, though! Certainly something to try outside the Legacy challenge. :D

  11. I certaintly understand having a case of the lazies. I’ve had updates on my families sitting on my computer for months.. and haven’t had the energy to get around to updating. I don’t think I’ve even opened Sims in a couple months. I’m hoping that RL will stop sapping my energy soon enough for me to get back into Sims for a while. Hopefully. XD
