Life at Villa Ravelo

Around that time Dad and Grandma had taken wearing Thinking Caps and running races on our new obstacle course. I think that’s when Dad was trying to get the directing job. Why do directors need 6-pack abs? I have no idea. It made more sense for Grandma, since she was trying to get promoted to Captain Hero. You gotta be buff to fight evil masterminds.

Ravelo Family

As for me, I’m not a super active type. When I wasn’t playing video games or doing homework, I liked to hang out with Grandpa and imitate whatever he happened to be doing at the time. I’m sure it annoyed him, but he pretended to be amused!

Ravelo Family

When Misty became a toddler, everyone remarked that she looked exactly like me, and had the same disposition, too. I remember thinking maybe she was my long lost twin (I wasn’t the brightest bulb on the Christmas tree back then).

Ravelo Family

I got a little bit smarter when I grew into a teenager. Not as smart as my mom, a.k.a. “The Professor”, but smart enough to know what I wanted out of life. Boys, naturally! Well, maybe not boys, plural, but at least one decent boy who might want to marry me someday. And I want to have a lot of babies, like Grandma did! (Well, maybe not THAT many.)

Ravelo Family

Being a teenager means you get more respect and more freedom, but it also means you get beaten up by your grandmother a lot more. At least she uses pillows!

Ravelo Family

Being a teenager also means rebelling and doing weird things like taking a nap on a log. Outside. In the cold. (What was I thinking?)

Ravelo Family

Getting older also made me realize just how much we must have annoyed our parents when we played with Grandpa’s Teleprompters! Unfortunately Kaela hasn’t figured that out yet.

Ravelo Family

Hey, there’s my dad! He’s dressed to kill and about to climb into his limo, which will take him to his directing job downtown. I think that’s when he was shooting his vampire movie at the Crypt O’Night Club. I wanted to go there so badly, but he said I wasn’t old enough. Bummer!

Ravelo Family

I find it funny that Dad rides to work in a limo, but Grandpa, who was a Senator at the time (though a very lazy one — he barely ever went to work!), still drove his crummy little car around town. I think he was proud of it, since it was his first major purchase after arriving in Rosebrook all those years ago.

Ravelo Family

Well, even though Misty was my “twin” when she was little, she grew up looking a bit different — her blonde hair darkened to a light brown, and she has this little mole above her lip (which Mom calls a “beauty mark”). I’m glad for that, because I don’t think I could handled a little mini-me running around the house. It would be been a bit weird.

Ravelo Family

Not that weird things don’t happen all the time at Villa Ravelo. We invited the headmaster over for dinner one night to see if he’d let the the three of us into private school, but he stood on the sidewalk for hours and hours, not responding to anything! Eventually he just disappeared. I guess we’ll have to try again.

Ravelo Family

I’ll never forget the night my Grandma came home and started singing out in the street. She had finally gotten promoted to Captain Hero and wanted the world to know! It put her in a permanent good mood for the rest of her life.

Ravelo Family

Seeing her so happy made me think about what would put me in a permanent good mood, which would be having 6 children and seeing them all get married. It sounds crazy, I know, but I can’t help it! I have an overabundance of maternal urges, and I’m not even grown up yet. I hadn’t found a decent boy yet, either — I hadn’t met very many boys at all, even in school. The only one I had met was Ricky Cormier, so I started calling him every so often, just to see where it would lead. We’re friends now, but who knows what’ll happen after I go to college.

  1. It’s so sad to see a founder pass on. I really like how you blended in Sim aspects into the story as every day occurences. I’m dealing with the getting six children married thing in my ISBI challenge right now and it has been a real drag. I hope it’s easier when you actually control all the people involved. That’s weird about the graphics going wonky, it’ll be quite a while until I get Nightlife (why do I have to insist on playing these games so slowly?) so hopefully they will have that fixed when I get it. I’m more looking forward to the next expansion pack. The idea of running a family business appeals to me. Sorry I got so off topic. Great update, and I can’t wait to read more about the Ravelos!

  2. Did Misty actually grow up with brown hair or did you just change it so she wouldn’t be a clone? When you said you replaced Maxis green eyes with Lyran eyes did you do that with all the Maxis colors? I love the hula dancers pic! Though I hope that doesn’t happen in the future. I love the Villa Ravelo but shouldn’t those girls be bundling up if it’s winter! But I guess things are different in the sim world. Oh, and you know what? In Kansas we just had two straight snow days! School’s cancled and everything! ;)

  3. That’s it — I’m going to go out and make myself a Sims 2 blog. This is so much fun to read that I want to see if it’ll be as fun to write. Thanks for doing it!

  4. Wooohoo, just after finishing a Morrigan update I come to your site and see – you’ve put up a new Ravelo one too! Yay, what a blast to read it , even though it was really sad to see both Grampa and Granny go. They were such a sweet couple! But life goes on. And I think tis great that you have three pretty girls in gen 3, girls rule! Anastacia is so pretty! Though weird hairdo *lol*. Actually, that permanent platinum mood until the end of lifetime… that’s an addition by UNI ep, right? Because I don’t have it, but I only have TS2 and no eps, as you know, my pc wouldn’t cope with them I fear ;). Weird thing with those red faced hula dancers *lol*. In a different sim family I had the shrink show up and he had no face, just the hair dancing somewhere above his neck ;). I love the picture of the girls falling asleep on the siewalk, it made me chuckle heavily. So eager to see who your next heir’s going to be, but I’m guessing its Anastacia as she’s a family sim and will make a great heir! Where did Kaela get such gorgeous green eyes from??? Incredible! Ok, enough of me, I’m dead tired now and I think I’ll go to bed sooner or later… until then, and don’t leave us hanging too long!! Eva

  5. Mmmmm. Update. *basks in the glory of the update*
Woohoo for Gen 3! Anastacia looks like she’ll make an excellent heir. What are all the girls’ stats? :D

  6. Loooove Anastacia’s face in that pillow fight. XD And really freaky about those hula girl’s faces! I’ve never seen anything like that before. All tree girls are gorgeous.. and I love Misty’s beauty mark! So sad to see the elder’s pass on.. especially from the 1st generation. I really need to go in and play my own families some more to get updates up. I’m so lazy! XD

  7. Anastacia has a really sweet personality. It’s funny how she’s so dismissive of herself as a child. And I love you’re house! And the furniture, and the snow, and the log… I wish my sim houses could be as elegant.

  8. Man, those hula dancers with the red faces did look creepy, a bit like something out of a horror movie! I hate it when the founder dies, it’s like your favourite character in a movie dying on you. By the way, who is Don Ho?

  9. Wonderful update! Sad to see the founder die and his wife the same day, they were a kewl pair :)

So how do you like that party pack? I still on the fence about it.

  10. Wow, the founder and his wife are…gone. It seems just like yesterday Simon was a carefree adult working at the One-Twenty-Five Cafe. I’m miss Simon and Lauren so much! :( Haha, the red-faced hula-dancers look freaky.

  11. I just today had a similar graphic glitch, by the way. I’d killed off a bunch of the Pleasantview adult Sims and consequently moved Alexander Goth, Lucy Burn and her mom into another house. Both Lucy and Alexander had bright blue blank faces floating in front of their hair, it was very freaky! Thankfully makeover fixed it.

  12. Great update Jen! It is definitely sad to see your founders get taken away by old grimmy…but that’s the way the cookie crumbles! I can’t wait to read more about the new head of the household!

  13. Awesome update. I’m sad to see the grandparents die though. I really liked Tristen. I really hope Ricky Comier and the current heir get together. He is forever pestering my teenage sims and I would love to see what he is like as an adult.

  14. I’m gonna try the Royal Kingdom Challenge, but instead of having it actually be placed in the past I’m going to say it’s a tv show a la Survivor or that actual one where there’s royalty and peasants. *G* That’ll explain the discrepancies like townies dressed in modern clothes and alla that. It should be fun!

  15. Simon was the awesome. I’ll never forget how he and Lauren got together.
Okay, actually, um, I’m having a little trouble remembering.
It was something like “so, hey, do you like guys who live in flats on cement who wear glasses and have… somethingIforget?” “Love them!”
    And then they were married.
The times. The times. The ten kids.
    The times.
    The New York times?

Kaela’s hair is sheer cool. A little odd, but still. Cool!

I like that last picture. The photograph, and the angle… lovely.

But, man. Those hula girls are creepy. Is that a skintone you even have, anyway?

Anyway, this is off-topic, but I’ve been making clothes for my Sims, lately. Thanks to you, I am inspired to make some PJs. Thank you!
    I don’t know how you did it. Really. o_O;
