The Three Freshmen

Dear Mom,

We’re finally done with our freshman year at Académie La Tour. Woohoo! I mean…um…yippee? It was a tough year, full of homework, video games, homework, macaroni and cheese, and homework, but we all pulled through with a 4.0 and made the Dean’s List, just so you could be proud of us (though the scholarship money doesn’t hurt). I’m sorry I didn’t write to you more often — the year went by so fast. And since at ALT freshman year rolls right into sophomore year without so much as a cappucino break in between, I thought I’d better write you before the homework piles up again.

I’m sure you remember from my last letter that things started out pretty slowly here. We didn’t know anyone except each other, and there were so many new faces…it overwhelmed me sometimes.

Ravelo Family

But after awhile we got the hang of things and figured out where all the cool kids hang out — upstairs playing SSX3! It only makes sense. I mean, Ethan and I were always cool kids, and what did we do all the time? Play video games! OK, so we were big geeks, and we still are, but we’re big COOL geeks now.

Ravelo Family

I even met this nice boy with blue hair who seemed to like me a lot (and who always let me win at SSX3), but he never asked me out or anything. He was probably just shy.

Speaking of shy, you wouldn’t think your son Ethan would be a shy boy, but he keeps to himself a lot here at school. Hard to believe, isn’t it?

Ravelo Family

The first thing he did was join the swim team (just so he could get a Llama letter jacket, I bet!), but he spent most of his time painting. He’s pretty good at it, and I told him he should major in Art, but he chose Psychology instead. I just don’t get him sometimes!

Ravelo Family

When he tears himself away from the easel long enough to study, he’s easily distracted by the girls in the dorm…but strangely enough, he never talks to them.

Ravelo Family

Well, I shouldn’t say “never”. One time at breakfast he asked a girl if she was related to Princess Leia.

Ravelo Family

The girl just smiled at him — I guess she’s used to that, or she should be, given that she wears her hair in little cinnamon buns on either side of her head, but I don’t think she was impressed by his remark. Ethan just doesn’t know what to say to girls. I suppose he’ll learn eventually, but it’s pretty frustrating to watch.

Trent, on the other hand…well, he’s a pretty smooth operator, I think. Kinda like dad! In fact, he kinda looks like dad when he’s not wearing his silly sunglasses.

Ravelo Family

Trent has a girlfriend in town, but he’s being all secretive about it and won’t give us any juicy details. It really bugs me! Sometimes we’ll sit up late and hang out, and we’ll be having this really great talk, and I’ll try to steer the conversation towards his mystery woman, but he just won’t go there. I don’t know what the big deal is.

Ravelo Family

When he’s not out with his imaginary girlfriend, Trent is reading books about theater and film. He wants to major in Drama and become a great actor. Ethan and I were surprised, but it makes sense now that I think about it — Trent’s not afraid of anything, and he loves attention. Who knows, maybe he’ll be the next Laurence Olivier?

Ravelo Family

He’s still obsessed with computer games, though, just as much as Ethan and I are obsessed with our little video game console. School is nervewrackingly hard — we all have to de-stress once in awhile. Well, maybe more than once in awhile.

  1. I love these letters whenever they come around. I think it’s so creative of you, and also a good break from normality. :-)

  2. Like the other two people said, the letter style of the update really made it kinda interesting. I hate reading letters that tell stories but this one has pictures! And it is written so well. Gosh, I loved the pictures and um and and Ethan is hot. Simified people rock. Oh and you made all of the Ravelos look so lovely. I bet you won’t mess up the genes with this family haha. Great update. I enjoyed it alot. Marlee is a doll. You make me want to go play sims but I gotta go do that stupid art project..::sigh:: Oh well. Goodnight. I will treat this as my bedtime story, even thought i probably wont be sleeping for a while haha.

  3. o.o Wow. That was cool. I take it you had fun playing these guys at the college, eh? :3
I wasn’t expecting an update so fast. >:3
I’m kinda interested to see what kind of kids the Ravelo’s will have next.
And it’s too bad you’re not taking name suggestions @_@ I want a Celeste, with blue eyes and starry clothing. yes. teehee.

  4. Wow! I just got caught up on all your Ravelo updates! What a great family! All the kids are so good-looking, and I can’t believe there’s so many of them now! Great job and I can’t wait to read more!

  5. Ahh wow, that was a cooool update! Nice idea, with the whole family thing, and I love the way you talked about each sim in turn, about their girlfriends and such :D

Hope theres a new update sooon!!!

  6. Holy moly, all the kids are gorgeous! Wow! I’m very curious about the mystery woman, too. :D
You’re spoiling us with all these uber-fast updates, lady! Woo!

  7. Hey Jen, you’re a meany, you know that ;)? Or let’s rather say Trent is a meany, not telling us who his girlfriend is and such ;) – and pleeease let us know about Marlee’s other 7 siblings apart from Trent and Ethan! Fun as always ;) – Luv it!

  8. Great stuff! All the kids are so good-looking and Ethan really does look like his dad. I’m glad you did an update about them so soon after the last one. I love that font you used to sign the letter too, it’s really pretty.

Anyway, I can’t wait to read about the newest additions to the family. :)

  9. There IS no mystery woman! (There is no spoon, Neo! … I don’t know, I’ve only watched the first half of the second Matrix, and, like, 1/4 of assorted parts from the first.)
Nita: It’s Vladmir Script. *nod* I wasn’t sure what font it was, myself (it looked familiar, though…), so I had to use WhatTheFont.com. Helpful thing.
    My comment is kind of going to be shorter than usual, because I’m off to bed soon. ^^;

Um… I like Marlee’s hair! It wouldn’t happen to be one that comes with NL or Uni, is it?
They better not overdose on that juice keg! Nasty, fruit-flavored hangover!
    Townhouse! Sounds really nice. No fraternity/sorority for them, eh? Right on, guys! Keep on keepin’ on, Ravelos! …I almost typed Revlon. ^^;
Man, Sims and their SSX3. Me, I think they should be playing Harvest Moon. COMPETITIVE FARMING! Watch out, man! >_>; Actually, I think I’ll try and make a couple games for my Sims. You’ve inspired me! Thanks! :D
Ethan is adorable. Aww. Man. I almost kind of want to download him and have a lookalike for him in my own game. :D
And… now I have to go. >_>; Man, I love the Revlonos! XD

  10. Hey guys, thanks so much for the comments! Since you guys seemed to like the letter format, I’m thinking I’ll do a letter for each year of their college education, and each one could be from a different family member — for example, the next one would be from Ethan or Trent. In the meantime I’m alternating each year of college with a few days of gameplay at the main house. Babies #7 and #8 were born last night! No twins yet, though. Darnit.

NitaBlu is right, the font I used for Marlee’s signature is Vladimir Script.

Scally – Laurence Olivier (bio on the IMDb) was a famous British actor of the stage and screen, best known for his Shakespearean roles. Some consider him the greatest actor of the 20th century.

Mieko – So far I’m having fun choosing the baby names randomly, but maybe a few generations down the road I’ll be sick of that and take name suggestions again. So keep a list of ones you like! I like Celeste, too.

Blu – Games for your Sims? Like objects? New video games for them? Ooh, if you make any, do let us know!! And if I ever get sick of the Sims (which I don’t foresee happening anytime soon, but you never know), I am going to play Harvest Moon! It sounds so cool. By the way, Blu, I love reading your comments. They’re hilariously awesome. Or awesomely hilarious. Or both. When Ethan graduates from college I’ll put him in a house and send him to you. :-) Now that he’s grown up, does he still look like a bishounen?

  11. Jen’s playing Harvest Moon? o.o Which one? @__@… *refrains from starting a side discussion*

  12. Hi Alex! Welcome! And thanks for letting me know about the Sims 2 holiday party pack! I had no idea they were doing that. I wonder how much it’ll cost? The pictures look so awesome! I’m going to be in Christmas decoration heaven.

For anyone wondering about it, you can find info here. Also check here for some bigger pictures (under “40 Bonus Holiday Items”).

*waves to susana and Rachel* :-)

Mieko – I’ve never played Harvest Moon, but I might someday when/if I get sick of Simming. Blu is playing it, though!

Hi Alice, welcome! And thanks for your comment!

  13. sweet, that’s a really cool idea, to write a stroy in the form o the letter. you always have such grea ideas jen ^^ i just love it how you gave each of them a unique personality
