When I saw that Sims can buy Clam Chowder from the winter concession stand that came with Seasons, I thought it would be awesome to build a restaurant that could be famous (at least locally) for its chowder. It’s another one of those New England cliches. ;) I also wanted a casual pub type of place where my average Joe dudes could hang out, eat chowder, have a drink, play foosball, etc. Thus The Chowder House was born.
It’s not a very unique name — if you google it, you get about 375,000 results — but I couldn’t come up with anything I liked better. :-p
It’s about a block from the lighthouse, with a nice view of the sea….from the sidewalk, anyway!
I built this sometime in December, so I was in a very Christmassy mood!
Here’s what it looks like in the daylight and from afar, so you can see the whole building:
Inside:
As you can see, there’s a bar as well as a food register. At first I tried to put the concession stand in there, thinking that was the only way I could get the clam chowder.
Well, I ran into several issues with that, which I won’t bore you with here, but suffice it to say, I was overjoyed to discover that with ani’s Shop from Inventory mod installed, my Sims could buy the clam chowder right from the regular food register! Wheeee!
The catch is that it’s in a group serving and costs §360…but that’s no biggie, I was just so happy I could actually serve chowder in The Chowder House. :-D
Of course I had to send some Sims there to test things out! Here are Mark Zinella and Blaine Hughey, best friends and average dudes…they’re totally rockin’ the karaoke machine upstairs…*covers ears*
They were loosely inspired by Garth Algar and Wayne Campbell. ;)
I was so thrilled when they ate their food at the same table! Blaine had a bowl of the famous clam chowder, and Mark ate one of his favorite foods, garlic fries. With a fork. ;-p
I liked Mark’s expression here:
Mark: With this Flaming Flotsam drink, I could take over the WORLD…
But usually he looks like a bit like a bemused puppy:
Much more on Mark and Blaine (and Mark’s cat…and some aliens!) up next!
Thanks for reading, and Happy Simming!!
Hi ! I’m corblas a French Sims player, so first sorry for my bad english ! ^^’
I follow your creations for a while and I have to say it’s really beautiful and inspirating for my own creation !
I Love the style of this restaurant, the patterns (wood and boats) give to this place a real “cachet” !
To finish I love the picture with Mark Zinella and Blaine Hughey singing !!!
Hi Corblas! I know your blog! (I discovered it through Sandy’s site!) :D I love your houses and decorating. :) You have a wonderful style! Thanks so much for stopping by and for your lovely comment!
Hahaha! That expression is awesome. And I love that you made sims from Wayne & Garth. Party On Dudes! On a more serious, sort of, note I just have to stay you have some fantastic decorating skills.
Thanks so much, Kelsey! *hugs* I have to say out of all the Sims I’ve made for Whimsett Cove so far, I have the most fun with Mark and Blaine! :) (Although Uncle Elvis and Lucas can be very relaxing and nice to play, too)
*sigh* The Chowder House is so wonderful! There’s just such atmosphere in there, with the string lights, the muted blues, and the little eating areas. I would love to enjoy a bowl of clam chowder there <3
Thank you, dear Sara-love! *hugs*
Still so incredibly pretty.
Thank you, Dee-dear! *smooooch*
Ooooh, nice! And the reason ‘The Chowder House’ is so popular is that it is a pretty good name, you know. Oh, Lord, Wayne’s World… I can vaguely remember those movies (did one of them have Meat Loaf in it?), and I can remember liking Bill and Ted better. Hey, I was young, I didn’t know better :-)
LOL!! I’ve never actually seen the Bill & Ted movies…I missed out! :-D I do love Wayne’s World, though…it’s just so silly and incredibly quotable. Anyway, thanks for your comment, Scally! *hugs*
Hello I love your creations and i always wanted them for my game… where can i get them?
Thank you so much, Konner! :) This particular lot isn’t available for download (too much custom content!), but I do share some of my other lots in my Parade of Homes thread.
