The Initiation of Kenneth

I was going to race home from work and boot up the Sims tonight (yes, I’m pathetic), but thought I should post an update first. I always take five million pictures when I play, and if I wait too long between playing and posting, I forget why I took them. So here we go! (Don’t worry, I’ve whittled the five million pictures down to a more manageable 16).

In the last update, Vesta gave up the hunt for Mr. Popularity and decided instead to propose to Kenneth Lillard. Well, the wedding was to occur the very next evening. Kenneth spent most of that next day chatting with Vesta’s great aunt Taryn, who stopped by and asked why she hadn’t been sent an invitation. (Actually, Arcadia Bradshaw brought her over.)

Kenneth talks to Taryn
“What do you mean you haven’t memorized the family tree yet?”

Stefaan prepared for his niece’s wedding by flirting with Marylena Hamilton, one of the many grocery delivery people in his acquaintance, while she pretended not to stare at his naked chest. Conveniently, his girlfriend Ericka was nowhere to be found. (I guess he wants to flirt with other women after all. Darn, I thought I had him tamed!)

Stefaan flirts with Marylena
“It’s OK. Go ahead and look.”

Sitting cool as a cucumber in the living room was the bride-to-be herself. She spent most of the day meditating all of her nervousness away.

Vesta meditates
“Ohmmm.”

Finally the big moment arrived. The guests were rounded up and herded into the family chapel (and I can invite a max of 5 people to my parties now that I have a new video card, woo!) while the bride and groom waited below the wedding arch.

Vesta and Kenneth under the arch
“I’m over here, hon.”

After saying their brief but poignant vows, they were met with a round of applause from the guests. In attendance were Stefaan Shanley (bride’s uncle), Melissa Fancey, Orlando Centowski, Sophie Miguel, Tristan Shanley (bride’s brother), Scott Perry, Taryn Shanley (bride’s great aunt), April Hutchins, and Marie Shanley (bride’s mother).

The guests applaud
“I’m so glad I never found that Stuart guy.”

The wedding was followed by a reception under the stars, with the obligatory cutting of the wedding cake.

Kenneth holds a piece of cake
“So what do you think, should I just throw the whole piece at her?”

While everyone else was wolfing down cake, Marie decided to go for a swim in the nearby lap pool. When she returned from her swim, she decided that she just doesn’t like Vesta’s choice of husband. Thankfully she kept it to herself, and most people thought she was just refusing coffee.

Marie waves away thoughts of Kenneth
“Eugh, he never shaves! And he thinks The Three Stooges are funny!”

(I hadn’t seen this before and thought it might have something to do with their astrological signs. Marie is a Taurus and Kenneth is a Cancer. Sure enough, I checked the Prima Guide, and Taurus is repelled by Cancer. At least that means she’ll never want to flirt with him! I also noticed that Libra [Vesta’s sign] is attracted to Cancer. That explains why Vesta likes Kenneth so much. She’s always wanting to flirt with him. Unfortunately Kenneth won’t ever dig her as much because he’s attracted to Gemini and Aries. Bummer!)

Nonetheless, she thought it would be good form to make a toast to the newlyweds. Kenneth lifted his glass though he could tell something about Marie’s speech had been a little “off”.

Marie makes a toast
“And what the heck is she doing in her bathing suit?”

The more Kenneth thought about Marie’s speech, the more uncomfortable he became. Did he really want to be part of this weird family that made a big deal about their lineage and forced their children to marry penniless delivery people? He loved Vesta, but why couldn’t they move to a nice little house by the lake? Why did they have to live in Shanley Manor for the rest of their lives, haunted by ghosts at every turn? He wasn’t sure he could handle it. Maybe he just needed to get away from that house for awhile. That’s right, a jog through the fresh night air would do him some good! As he sprinted towards the woods across the street, he heard a scream and the squeal of tires on pavement…

  1. YAY! I got a sim with my favorite name! Wehoo! Thank you so much! Anyway, that was a lovely, unexpected update! Thanks! I am about to go into a downloading frenzy via a friend and you hitched up my happiness level to plus ten!~ hehe. I am loving your captions btw! Can you suggest some extra fab downloads? CYA from Dustyn. xo :)

  2. Jen, i love how you’re so consistant with your stories. That’s wonderful! We need to learn from you ^_^ I just get lazy with all the work and everything. I loved this update. I take a bunch of pictures also, sometimes I just don’t use all of them. I’m glad YOU do, though. I just love reading about your family!

Your story-mode is great! Sometimes we all need a while from the writer’s point of view and go into the Sim’s world, don’t we? ;) I love that last caption, Finding Nemo is awesome! Great job, I can’t wait for the toddler stage posted in your next post! :D

  3. Tebbany is such an awesome name. I can’t wait to see her as a toddler! Good job, Jen – as always! ;-) Like Leslie said, it’s good to have a different point of view sometimes. Being an avid writer myself, I sometimes find myself writing in story mode about the Palomas. I’m actually thinking about making stories with my sims, once I get past worrying that everyone won’t like my storytelling skills, of course. ;-) Anyhoo, good job. I can’t wait to see your next post!

  4. Great job! Wow you are just flying through the challenge. I like that you slipped some storytelling in this update. I remember reading your first posts and they were all stories and they were all very interesting so I’m glad I got a little taste of it again. :)

  5. Hi Jen, came over from the link you left in my comments. So glad i did, I love your legacy blog, the captions for the photo’s are just superb. I’ll be reading this one often. Hugs, Chuckles.

  6. Hi, Jen! I got your comments in my blog and came to check your out. Been reading some of the back entries as well as the newer ones. Good stuff! Also, I LOVE your Shanley’s house! It’s so cool to look at.

  7. Hi Jen. Great update. Your storytelling did go well with the pic. I wonder if Stefaan was to be abducted by aliens and have an alien baby does that count on your legacy or does it have to be your heir who has the alien baby?
Anyhoo … i love your captions and pic… can’t wait to see the next one.

  8. Awwwww…Tebby is too cute. My legacy sim “Jasmine” is currently pregnant too. I am dying to see what the 3rd gen heir will look like. Great picture, by the way. Have a great day! :)

  9. Hey, I’ve got the Prima guide too! I take it on holiday so if I can’t play the Sims, I read about them.
Tebbany is a gorgeous name, and his eyebrows are so cute! Like those hairy caterpillars!
Okay, I’ll keep an eye out for more stories! Happy Valentines Day, guys!

  10. Dustyn – Glad you enjoyed the update! I love the name Tebbany and was happy to use it. As for download suggestions, there are a ton of links in my sidebar. Unpretty and ChicChica have my favorite ‘glamourous’ clothes, Parsimonious has great colorful clothing for all ages, and Simulated Living (which is brand new) has some good ‘preppy’ stuff. As for objects and stuff, oy…so much out there! I haven’t been downloading as much of that stuff because I’m waiting for stuff to be fixed so its compatible with the expansion. Anyway, have fun with your downloading frenzy! :-)

Mary – For Legacy Challenge scoring, any alien born on the lot counts for a point, it doesn’t have to be descended from (or even related to) the heir. I was thinking about trying to get Tristan abducted, actually, since Stefaan is close to elder!

Thanks to everyone else for the nice comments!!
