Well, I was all set to update the Braytons tonight, but I’m insanely tired and won’t be able to stay up for the three hours it would take to write their story (yes, I’m slow). I’ll try to get the update posted tomorrow night! In the meantime, here’s a series of scary pictures from when my sister was playing her Sims house a couple of weekends ago. You might recognize some of the Sims involved…

Timely Finds (A Work in Progress)
Wow, thanks for all of the great name suggestions! You guys are awesome. I finally got to play a bit tonight (for the first time in four days!), so expect an update sometime tomorrow (Tuesday). I’m also horribly behind on everyone else’s blogs again, but hope to get caught up with those tomorrow as well.
In the meantime, Bitsy posted a great idea in the comments for my last Brayton update — she suggested I start a list of stuff I’ve found for my historical family, and then if any of you come across new items, you can leave a comment with a link to the site where they can be found, and I’ll add them to the list. That way anyone who is interested in doing a historical or retro family can refer to it to track down objects and clothing.
(Update: I am in the process of adding tons of new links. Also, I put the list on its own page because this post kept timing out when I tried to save. Click on the link below to go to the finds.)
Site Stuff and New Family Idea
First, the nitpicky site stuff:
*The new, improved URL of this here blog is now http://www.jenba.net/sims2, although http://www.jenba.net/wordpress will redirect to it for now. What will no longer redirect is http://www.jenba.net/. Please update your links accordingly.
*I had too many categories, so I did some re-organizing. Stories about the Dobbins, Kilman, and Blakemore families no longer have their own category, but can be found under Maude’s Tales. I only had one post each in the “Hesperos Family” and “Townies” categories, so I deleted those categories. The posts themselves can now be found under General.
And now for gameplay stuff!
I’m going to continue to follow Pinstar’s Legacy Challenge: University rules with Mia Shanley’s legacy. That’s a definite. I’ve decided, however, that playing two Shanley families Legacy-style is Shanley overload for me, so I’m going to let the non-Mia branch of the family die out.
I feel bad even typing that, but it’s not all that different from how I’ve been playing the Shanleys since day one — the heir (in this case, Mia) continues the family line; the spare heirs do not (with the exception of Taryn in 4th gen, who moved out and started her own non-Legacy family). So don’t worry, there will still be stories about the Shanleys — it’ll just be focused on Mia and her progeny.
I might play the Shanley Hall family until everyone there passes away, just to keep them in sync with Mia, but I doubt I will post stories about them — they will probably just pop up in Mia’s story from time to time. I’m trying to keep from having too many houses going at once, and I’d like to have some time for my NEW family, which is going to be a SIMplifiedU Challenge family with a little twist.
Keeping It Simple
If any of you are looking for a simpler, more streamlined version of the Legacy Challenge: University, you might want to check out the SIMplifiedU Yahoo! Group run by Ivy and Kate, who are co-owners of the TS2ClassicLegacy and TS2UniversityLegacy Yahoo! Groups. Ivy took Pinstar’s rules and tweaked them a bit, adding some things and throwing others out completely. One interesting modification is that you can start your family on any size lot, which is nice for people whose computers can’t handle the largest lot. I’m thinking I might do it, even though I already have one Legacy going. I had an idea for a family I wanted to try out. ;-)
The SIMplifiedU Yahoo! Group is also the group for those interested in trying The Greek Challenge, created by Pinstar. That one sounds like fun, too, but I think I’ll hold off on that one for awhile.
I’ve also created a new category in my sidebar called “Groups & Challenges” where you can find links to various challenges and the Yahoo! Groups.
UPDATE: I received permission from Ivy to post the rules to the SIMplifiedU Challenge. To view them, click on “Read the rest of this entry”. And don’t forget to visit the SIMplifiedU Yahoo! Group if you want tips, discussion, help, and tales of other peoples’ legacy families!
Impending Change of URL
On March 17th, I will be changing the URL of this site from http://www.jenba.net/wordpress to http://www.jenba.net/sims2 (not active yet). Please update your bookmarks and links accordingly. Also effective that day, the URL http://www.jenba.net will no longer redirect your browser to this site. Everything else about my blog will stay the same. I just wanted to let you guys know so you can find my blog again after Thursday. Thanks!
Update: My http://www.jenba.net/wordpress URL will probably redirect to the new one, so no biggie if that’s the URL you’re used to accessing. The main thing is that http://www.jenba.net/ will no longer point to this blog. I have other plans for it, but they haven’t been fully formed yet. Sorry for any confusion!
Welcome to Sim State
I installed University with no problems (so far!) and sent a batch of the townie teens to Sim State University just to get a feel for the new gameplay. I took pictures thinking it might be fun to post them and decided to write up a little narrative to go with them, told from the point of view of Ivy Copur. I’ll get back to the Shanleys very soon — this is just a little detour.
For reference, here are the townies who got to go, from left to right: Ivy Copur, Orlando Centowski, Sophie Miguel, and Ricky Cormier. Hope you enjoy!
The New Look
I couldn’t take it anymore. After struggling to make my old blog theme fit with WordPress 1.5, I gave up and just installed a brand new theme. I had my old theme almost working last night, but couldn’t figure out how to modify a few things and got frustrated. It was too disconcerting to look at my blog in the meantime, kind of like looking at someone who has had a nose job — you recognize them, but something is just plain OFF.
Anyway, I tweaked the new theme a bit and will probably continue to tweak until the end of time, but it’s basically the way I want it now. I know it’s a bit on the blah side, but I tend to like cleaner templates over busy ones, at least for my own purposes. Makes it less conspicuous when I’m blogging at work and such. ;-)
My apologies to anyone who checked my blog yesterday and/or today and saw things in disarray. Happy Simming, all…I gotta get back to work! *cracks whip*
Upgrade, hooray
I upgraded to WordPress 1.5 today, so things might look a little wonky (or a LOT wonky) for awhile. Since my old template was designed for version 1.2 (and I had tweaked it quite a bit anyway), I’m going to attempt to rework the new default WordPress template instead of converting the old one. I’m a bit slow with this stuff, but since I want to post an update tonight, I hope to have things looking semi-decent before then.
Thanks for your patience until I get everything looking normal again. :-)
