Whew! Between last night and tonight, quite a bit has happened with my Legacy Family. Thank goodness, because I felt like I was stuck in a rut with the 4th and 5th generations. Out of curiosity, I glanced back through my pictures and noticed that Fiona was born around December 9th of last year — that means I’ve been playing her for over a month, and she’s not even an elder yet! Yipes. I have been sloooow.
Well, let’s get right to the update! As I mentioned in my last post, things have been rather crazy at Shanley Manor these days. Fiona has been making babies, and Robi keeps wanting to interact with his kids, including the ones that live over at Uncle Liam’s. For me the babies and toddlers haven’t been nearly as challenging as the children and teens, primarily because of the homework issue. I have to really keep an eye on everyone and make sure they do homework at least every couple of days, just so we can avoid a visit from the social worker. Apparently I’m running these kids ragged, because Dubrey came home from school one day and fell asleep on the sidewalk…standing up! Poor kid didn’t even have the energy to lie down. His mother was very concerned, of course.
In the background, Robi talks to his son Callum, who was visiting from Uncle Liam’s.
I eventually woke Dubrey up and sent him to a proper bed. Once he was recharged, he came downstairs and started playing with the toddler, Heath. With all the kids I have in this house, I rarely see the children interacting with toddlers, so I thought it was cute.
That night Patrick grew into an adult, wearing Uncle Liam’s old clothes. Owen, Dubrey, and Kay looked on.
Upon reaching adulthood, Patrick was promoted to Con Artist in the Criminal career. Normally at this point I would attempt to hook my heir up with an NPC and get the next generation rolling, but I had to wait — we had 7 people in the house, and Fiona was pregnant with her last child. I had to wait until Owen was an adult so he could move out with a bunch of the remaining kids, leaving room for Patrick to get married. Unfortunately Owen was 14 days from becoming an adult, and I wasn’t sure I wanted to wait that long. The solution? I waited until his aspiration level was in low green and had him drink the elixir a few times. I felt bad about shortening his life, but it had to be done. He ended up 3 days from adulthood, which was good enough.
Meanwhile Patrick was in low green and trying desperately to hunt the ghosts of Devin and Kaylynn so he could get aspiration points. I had him chasing Kaylynn around the lot for hours one night, but she never scared him. She’s just not angry enough! Unlike Nia, who still delights in frightening her descendents and making them wet the floor. At one point I had to send some of the kids to the third and fourth floors to sleep because there were so many ghosts roaming around, waking everyone up.
Well, the next night Patrick finally cornered Kaylynn — or should I say, she cornered him — outside, and he received a lovely 5,000 aspiration points.
Soon it was time for little Kay to grow up. I was surprised at how pretty she turned out. She’s one of those Sims who doesn’t really need make-up, though I did give her make-up later just for kicks. I rolled Popularity for her, which is funny, because the only other 5th gen girl, Zuzu, is also a Popularity Sim. It’s too bad they don’t live in the same house — I bet they’d have fun throwing parties together.
The same night, Heath became a child. I had gotten so tired of the Patrick clones that I didn’t bother giving Heath a different hairstyle or outfit, so he looks exactly like his brother Dubrey. In fact, I can’t even tell them apart in the picture below.
Well, you guys know how much I’ve been whining about all of my kids looking alike, especially with Fiona having so many kids in Generation 5. I assumed that her last child would follow the same pattern. Imagine my surprise when he turned out to be completely different from all of his brothers! At least in looks — I don’t know about his personality yet, because he’s still a baby. But he has his mother’s lighter skin tone and his mother’s brown eyes! I never thought I’d be so glad to see those brown eyes again. I mean, I love Robi’s grey eyes, but I was tired of the clones. This baby is different! Huzzah! (continued on Page 2)
Yay! I’m the first to comment! Hope you find an Energizer soon, it sounds like you’re gonna simbust! lol. I love your updates and can’t wait until the next one! (Oh goodness I’m greedy today!) Sincerely, Dustyn.
Just take Stefaan. He’ll turn out a cute man, with high mechanical and logical skills, tough you might have to encourage the outgoing and the neat… ;-)
Thank you so much for using the name, it’s fun to read it in the story.
Don’t bother about not having aged your sims enough, playing slow has given us a great set of pictures to look at now! And the elexir aging: a girl’s got to do what a girl’s got to do (speaks the one who uses it ONLY in this fashion…)
Congrads on ten kids! Man I don’t think I;d be able to do that, though I *might* try in G8 or sometime along the track. lol.. Heath and Patrick look liek identical twins! I think I read ur comment somewhere about how Twins don’t look like twins while non-twins all look a like, which I agree. My G2 kids were all relatively different cause there were 2 sets of twins and the eldest boy loked nothing alike his two younger twin brothers. Guess I’m lucky in that respect. But now I’ve got 2 g4 girls so lets see if they’ll be different or clones of each other^^ Neway, ‘nough babble from me. Your G6 should be starting soon hey! lol… so behind, only begining G4… laters
It was sad that Liam died, but the picture of everybody mourning was pretty good funny…with the tombstones above everybody’s heads :) I have yet to get a Platinum tombstone, those are pretty cool!
Your Legacy family is going great, I can’t wait to see more.
Hey Jen, great job on your update. I can’t believe how time flies by. Kay really does look cute. She going to be really pretty adult. It’s too bad you can’t send the kids/teen adults off to college and keep going with G6 and have your sims come back with new skills. You know where they are not moved out just out of the way temp. basis. I remember you once saying you kinda built a college like place. How did that work out? Well who ever moves out I’m sure there will be more then one wedding soon. GL.
Sim you later
Hi Mary – Yeah, that would be really cool if I could send my teens to college and have them come back! You’re right, I did build a college and planned on doing some stories set there with my regular Sims families, but the announcement of the expansion sort of took the wind out of my sails on that idea.
Yeah! I gave you more options. I hope my input did help you with making a decision on what to do with all those kids and how to proceed to your next Generation.
Looking forward to your next update.
Spare heir? I missed something–who’s THE heir right now? I wouldn’t take a guy–most of them look alike….
Stick to two kids or just one from now on, until things start to settle… though I’m not sure how much they CAN settle! :3 You’ve just got a handful of adolescents. o.o It’s getting alittle confusing.
It’d suck if Fiona didn’t get platinum after all that…
Hi Mieko – Patrick is THE heir at the moment. I like to have a spare just in case something happens. At this point, I am thinking I will keep both Kay and Stefaan, and move Owen, Dubrey, and Heath out. It’ll make for a crowded house once Marie moves in and has a kid or two, but I think I can handle it. I know what you mean about it being confusing — I’m working on an “interactive” family tree, hopefully that will help.
Aw, poor Jen! Sounds like you really need that rest. Well, take a relaxing day tomorrow and enjoy everyone’s blogs!
Stefaan is so cute, I’m glad you don’t have all clones, maybe that’s the reward for having 10 kids! Aw, poor Liam, even if I’ve never played him, I still will miss him! ^_^ He was such a nice sim to read about…
Wow, you did it! 10 kids? I have never even attempted to fulfill that aspiration. It would drive me nutty.
Woo Hoo on your Legacy family. Kinda sad about Uncle Liam though…LOL!
Wow. You are finally done! How does it feel? That took forever. I’m sure it’s a total relief that you’re done….I wonder if you will miss it? Lol, I wouldn’t. I’m glad you’re taking a rest tomorrow. You really do need it and you’ve also really earned it. I look forward to when you come back the day after, though! Have fun! And Good Job!
You finally made it, congrats. It’s so much fun to read your blog…don’t worry I’m way behind on reading them as well. :)
Wow! *agrees with hardship on 10 children* I have my family who has twelve children…twelve! I choose Kay for the heir…yes, Stefaan is the youngest, but a girl would be great! Especially with good looks!
