My time travel kid Norris aged up to teen, emerging from the Sultan’s Tabernacle to do so. He looked a little apprehensive about becoming a teen. Or maybe he didn’t care for his new letter jacket.
Since Norris was a little on the chubby side, I chose the Athletic trait for him and had him work out on the treadmill at home. I have nothing against overweight folks as I’m rather rotund myself, but I wanted to see how long it would take me to transform Norris. Not very long, is the answer. He was svelte in no time.
However, it only took a couple of days for him to become pudgy again. Here are Norris and Jules riding the bus home from school:
Are Sims like humans and have a kind of “setpoint†for their weight/metabolism? I’ve had other Sims who never worked out but never gained weight, either. But as soon as Norris slacked a little on his fitness training, he was back to his old shape. Weirdness. And Jules is turning out to be like that, too. If he doesn’t work out practically every day, he gets flabby. Having never experienced that with a born-in-game Sim, it just boggles my mind. It’s not like the boys eat any more than anyone else.
Anyway, I bought the family a microwave just so I could see the ‘bots lovin’ it up, and I was not disappointed. It’s too bad the microwave didn’t reciprocate (although it did shake a little once – I think Franklin zapped it).
Now that Gibby had completed his Lifetime Wish, I could fulfill his long-promised wants to go time-traveling. First – to the future!
Not much happened, though he did come back wearing a funky new futuristic outfit. Even less happened when I sent him to the past – I think he brought back some money or something.
I sent Lolly into the past again, and she brought back some new apparel, too.
She was also sneezing a bit – did she catch the Plague??
Somewhere in all that silliness, the family earned more moolah and fulfilled Verna’s LTW to have §195,000 in cash. I think it was selling bunches of nectar and produce that did it. Those fruits and veggies really add up over time. Plus all of the Simbots had jobs, which were raking in the dough, and Gibby had been sending all his gems away to be cut, then selling them. In my opinion, it is wayyy too easy to make money in TS3.
So now I just had to wait for Eddy to hit level 10 in the Law Enforcement career, which she did while Jules was still a teen. Yay, Eddy! Being a workaholic really paid off.
You can’t tell she’s a super spy, though, which is why I’d never want to do a Simbot legacy, even though it’s probably feasible – you can’t really play dress-up with ‘bots. All of that lovely hair and clothing CC would go to waste. Unless you use Twallan’s Super Computer to go into CAS and give them human bodies and heads, of course…but that’s just creepy.
Now that everyone had completed their LTWs in a timely manner, I could age Jules up and get him outta that nutty 8-person house. But first, Lolly emerged from the tabernacle in order to become an elder (I pretty much had the whole family minus the ‘bots sleeping in that thing).
The next morning it was time for Jules to make a wish and blow out the candles on his cake.
The whole crazy family gathered around to cheer him on (Franklin and Norris are off-camera).
And here’s Jules as an adult:
I left him in those clothes and haircut for awhile because I thought it’d be fun to send him to a stylist once he moved out. Heh. Anyway, I chose Athletic for his last trait because I thought it might come in handy in his future career as a Private Investigator…

Great update Jen! I love the simbots they are funny. I can’t wait to build one (or two) in my game. I just started the Wishful Living Challenge and so far no one has reached their LTW! Ugh!
I’m interested in Twallan’s Story Progression mod. I did use it for a short while on another family but the game became buggy fast and I had to remove everything. But so far you don’t seem to have experienced any bugs. So I’m curious what you did exactly. I really want the family’s to keep living their lives once the heir moves out.

As far as sims putting on the pounds easily compared to some … yes, I’ve noticed this myself, but not with a born-in-game sim. I noticed it with my sim-self. She started off overweight … as she IS my sim-self. Though she knows martial arts and has slimmed down, it’s very easy for her to put weight back on. Just like in real life!! :Op
Gibby has such a strange expression on his face after he returned from the future. Sorry nothing interesting happened. :O)

I agree, it’s way to easy to make cash in TS3. It’s no challenge at all, which disappoints me, I like challenges.
I love Gibby, he’s so cute…..and weird, in a cool way. I was dreading the robot thing, thought it might be like the bots in TS2, which I didn’t get along with :) . But they actually look cool, I’m looking forward to trying one out.

My sims used to be like Norris with their weight too. I had to constantly keep the overweight ones working out if they wanted to be slim, but the thin sims could almost eat whatever they wanted and never gain weight (SO not fair!). Awesomemod has a fix for that though, and I can’t live without it (because I like to have TS2 style aging as I play mainly prosperity style). Also wow, I’m impressed by how many LTWs you’ve completed! Lol I am a sorry excuse for a sim player, I’ve probably achieved 2 since I’ve started playing TS3… seriously.

Happy birthday, Norris! Wow, I wish it were that easy to lose weight in real life. But yes, I do think they have set-points in their weight and you have to either use the body sculptor or keep exercising/not exercising to keep their weight different than what they default to.

Hey jen, I was just wondering how you got the heart-shaped cut for your pink diamond? I have all my life fruits and I have 3 pink diamonds, but I don’t know how to get the cut! I have read all sorts of different things, but none have worked! I have collected over 100 gems and I have every other single cut! Do you have any ideas? I would appreciate anyones answer. Thanks!
Hi Maddy, to get the heart cut, you have to send at least 10 different gems away to be cut. So even if you’ve collected 100, if you haven’t sent at least 10 completely different types away, you won’t get the heart cut to show up. I hope that helps!
