The Girls Grow Up

Nothing exciting like twins to report this time, but my Legacy Challenge family is progressing nicely. The twins are both very playful and outgoing, which has made them quite fun to raise (once they got past the diaper stage, that is). About the time that Bree and Kiara grew into children, I had Abjiheet move out — I no longer needed him to help the family, and four people in a house is a more comfortable number for me, at least for this challenge.

In the picture above Kiara (left) and Bree (right) chat on the couch while their parents Nia and Sheldon do some huggy-huggy. I purchased the piano you see in the picture because I planned on inviting the headmaster over and getting the twins into private school. I figured with the expensive sculpture in the yard, the piano, and Sheldon’s exquisite lobster thermidor, the headmaster was sure to be impressed. Unfortunately he was so put off by the “look” of the house (which I’m guessing has to do with the lot’s total worth) that he didn’t even bother to get out of his car. This sent both Sheldon’s and Nia’s aspiration meters deep into the red, but the shrink only showed up for Sheldon.

I worked on getting Nia and Sheldon promoted in order to get more money and raise their aspiration meters. In the pic above, Nia practices raising her Charisma with the Execuputter, while Sheldon becomes best friends with Will Dobbins by making fart jokes. The guy walking past is Stewart Beagle, Tess Blakemore’s fiancé.

After Sheldon got promoted a few times, I was able to buy some new appliances for the kitchen and bathroom and expand the living room. My next renovation goal is to expand the kitchen — the kitchen sink is currently in the bathroom because I only have the one kitchen wall.

The girls have breakfast

Sheldon makes such excellent food that everyone started putting on a little weight. Here I have Sheldon doing his crazy yoga so he can get fit.

The girls didn’t seem to mind that they weren’t accepted into private school. They continued on as eager and boisterous as ever, burping into Sheldon’s Teleprompter, bouncing on the couch…

It was tough sometimes to get them to do homework, but I had each parent help them the first time, and eventually it became less difficult for them. Kiara also liked to play the piano, while I had Bree play on the Execuputter. The weird thing is that she gained about 5 points of Charisma in just a few hours on that thing. Is that a function of the Execuputter + children? When Nia putted, her Charisma didn’t increase THAT quickly.

Kiara and Bree

The twins became teenagers with little fanfare (I was so busy trying to get them into platinum that I didn’t bother with birthday cakes). Bree was in platinum when she grew up, but Kiara was only in gold. I used an online random number generator to determine their aspirations: Bree will be a Knowledge Sim (yay!), and Kiara will be another Fortune Sim (darn). I’m really sick of Fortune Sims, so I think Bree will definitely be carrying on the Shanley Legacy.

I succeeded in getting Sheldon promoted to Judge and Nia to Vice President of whatever company she works for, but the family net worth is still pretty low — around §38,000. I’m hoping to add some more funds to the family coffers by marrying Kiara to a townie (since the NPCs have diddly squat for cash). Since I want to marry all of my primary heirs to NPCs, however, Bree will probably end up with a Bartender or Exterminator. I guess we’ll see what happens!

  1. Well I’ve had the headmaster accept with a house worth less than 20k and with spahgetti as the meal. I havn’t seen him not exit the car yet.

Child sims learn REALLY fast, I had one child use the punchbag and in just over one day I had the kid up to 10 body points, and I didn’t use thinking cap or energizer!

  2. wow! they earn skill points that quickly? i haven’t played my Sims families w/ kids that much yet. i’m really enjoying this story so far.

Bree and Kiara are twins? with the exception of their hair, they look nothing alike! not even skin tone! i just find that a little strange (no offense!)… and oh, hey, i downloaded that same shirt that Bree is wearing (as a teen).

loved the pic of them jumping on the sofa. :)

  3. OMG, i totally missed out on the previous entry. for some reason, i thought it was just the pic of the house. i didn’t click further. and you had commented on the twins skin tones, too. my bad!

  4. yeh for some strange reason kis increase their skills soooo quickly, But I’ve wondered a couple of times whether teh skill level went down by itself :/

  5. I love knowledge sims, I think they are my favorite. They seem to be the easiest to please anyway. All they have to do is earn skill points to be happy.

  6. I actually was hoping for something other than Knowledge when Madeline grew! I have so many Knowledge Sims in my game it’s crazy. I like Romance Sims, but I have a lot of them too. Family Sims and Romance Sims are hard to pair together for the Legacy Challenge, I’ve had to be creative about when I get them married and have kids and not throw one of them into Aspirational Failure. Fortune Sims are difficult when you only have a small house and/or no money.

Your house looks cute and so does your family :) My husband actually created a program on his calculator that randomly picks the next Aspiration Level yesterday when I was gone. It’s so nice to be married to a geek sometimes :)
