“What do you think you’re doing?” she asked, her voice low and controlled but her eyes firing laser-beams at my head.

“I’m not doing anything,” I said, trying to sound as harmless as possible.

“Are you after Thatcher?”

“No! He’s just my friend. I work for his mom. They invited me to go swimming. That’s it.”

“Did she tell you to break us up?”

“What?? No! She just wanted me to…” I halted.

A dozen lightbulbs went off in my head. Oh my gosh. Did Ms. Ambassador want me to break up Alicia and Thatcher? Does that mean Thatcher and Alicia are dating? Why would Alicia want to date Thatcher? Is that why she rejected Rico? (As if anyone would need a reason.)

But if that’s the case, why doesn’t Ms. Ambassador just forbid Alicia from coming over? She keeps Thatcher on a tight leash. Why not just break them up herself? Why would she want to break them up in the first place, aside from the fact that Alicia is a little freaky? So many questions!

This whole can of worms reminds me of the Rayna-Joel situation, except that I don’t have a crush on Thatcher, so I’m really not in the way here. At the same time, I don’t enjoy being used by my boss to do her dirty work. (Even though that’s usually what bosses use people for, isn’t it. Hmph.)

“Wanted you to what?” Alicia asked.

“She just wanted me to have some fun and go swimming,” I said, not wanting to get in any deeper than I already was. “And…I had fun, so if it’s OK, I’m gonna go now.”

I changed back into my clothes and went to tell Thatcher that I had decided not to stay for dinner since I had to go home and do chores. Uh…yeah.

He seemed a little disappointed but smiled at my cool new retro dress and said I looked great. Woops! But what about Alicia? Doesn’t she look completely awesome, too? Isn’t she your girlfriend?

Thatcher is a sweet kid, but I just don’t get him sometimes. He’s just so oblivious and naïve and weird. I wonder if he has even noticed that Alicia is a little…intense. I mean, the girl scares me more than Rayna does.

And why oh why is she with Thatcher? They’re such an odd couple. He’s this innocent sheltered kid who likes retro stuff and she’s…well, come to think of it, I don’t know much about her. I do remember Joel saying she had her life all planned out already, who she was going to marry and everything.

I guess she’s going to marry Thatcher then. Why does that thought creep me out?

Oh my gosh. The phone just rang, and Bernie is yelling for me, and he says it’s JOEL!!!

Speak of the devil!

  1. Fran returns, and she’s as sassy as ever! I loved her commentary, it’s always so whacky and funny. Awesome job, Jen. I really loved the shots, too!

  3. I don’t think I read this blog in the past, but glad i’m reading it now. I really like Fran. You’re really good with this writing style, very entertaining, and of course keeps a person wanting more. ;)

    Thatcher just hasn’t a clue. I wonder if Alicia only wants to be his girlfriend, since Thatcher doesn’t seem to be paying her nearly as much attention as he was paying to Fran. Looking forward to the next entry ;)

  5. That was so great ! I discovered your old-Fran the other days, and I am so happy that you continue with her. She’s such a funny character. I wondered, will she go to university or will she became an adult instantly ? And I hope we’ll have news about Wheezy whom I love so much ! Bravo !

  6. I’m so glad that Fran is back! I hope her boss isn’t trying to brake Thatcher up with Alicia using poor Fran…And yes Fran as an adult would be quite interesting..:D

    I don’t like Alicia. Fran hasn’t done anything, so she shouldn’t be so nasty to her. But, I guess a girl can’t help it when the green-eyed monster takes over. Fran is made of awesome!

    But I do like Fran’s stories. :P

  16. Yikes – I never read Franchesca back on your old blog (what a shame ;) – but since you now updated it here, I just went back to Mt Geneva and spent 2 hours yesterday reading it from scratch ;).
    And I liiiiike it! Fran ist definitely cool (and *whoot*, I’d fall for Joel too) and I’m extremely excited to see what will happen next!
