Bon Voyage Is Here!

Leah is a good girl and slathers herself with SPF99 before basking in the sun’s rays.

The Brumsdorfs on Vacation

Tired of frolicking in the waves for the moment, Dane tries his hand at building a sandcastle. He wonders if he should go for a simple motte-and-bailey style, or something more along the lines of Schloss Neuschwanstein. It’s a tough call.

The Brumsdorfs on Vacation

Even with Leah helping him, the endeavor proves to be a bit too much for poor Dane, and he ends up with something resembling a sand amoeba. He’s proud of his efforts nonetheless.

The Brumsdorfs on Vacation

Listening to the waves rushing onto the shore has made Steve want to tinkle, so he heads back into the hotel. Nancy settles into the damp sand and meditates on the beauty of the sea. She’s so lost in her reverie that she doesn’t even notice Mr. Tall, Dark, and Leafy watching her from afar. Or a’near, as the case may be.

The Brumsdorfs on Vacation

The leafy guy, a local named Jim Reeves, gets tired of waiting for Nancy to notice him and wanders back towards the hotel, telling the kids to “hang loose” as he does so.

The Brumsdorfs on Vacation

Steve brings his camera out and starts snapping photos with wild abandon. Look! It’s the OCEAN! Look! It’s a WAVE! Look, it’s a BIG ROCK!

The Brumsdorfs on Vacation

Later he moseys into the restaurant part of the hotel and runs into Jim Reeves. He tries to give him the “hang loose” sign and fails miserably. Apparently it’s a far more difficult maneuver than you’d think.

The Brumsdorfs on Vacation

Jim grins and shows him the RIGHT way to hang loose.

“Man,” says Steve. “You make it look so EASY!”

The Brumsdorfs on Vacation

Meanwhile Nancy attempts to build her own sand amoeba and does a lovely job. A fellow tourist looks on in distaste.

The Brumsdorfs on Vacation

“You can’t build a sandcastle to save your soul!” he laughs cruelly. “You fail at life!”

Nancy fights a strong urge to rip off his fanny pack and throw it at his head.

The Brumsdorfs on Vacation

“Dane, honey,” she says, “Don’t talk to tourists. They’re evil and ignorant.”

The Brumsdorfs on Vacation

“But Mom, aren’t we tourists?”

“Yes, but we’re cool.”

“Um…OK, Mom.”

As twilight melts over the island, Leah snoozes away in her bed. That’s right, it’s 7 PM and she’s already asleep. Vacations will do that to you.

The Brumsdorfs on Vacation

NOTE: I’ll be back later in the week with some thoughts on Bon Voyage and maybe some more pictures. Until then, Happy Simming!

  1. Heee! I love the Brumsdorfs! XD
And Steve may’ve lost a reality show, but he’s certainly gained a very cool hat. In fact, I dare call it a Cunning(tm) hat!
Hey, did you notice if the hair that Nancy has is animated or not? I eyed it in CAS, and it didn’t seem to move. O.o
I’m very pleased with this EP so far. ‘s good schtuff. If only I could figure out how to get the greeting thang going. Is that something the townies themselves have to autonomously begin?

  2. Looks like the Brumsdorfs are having a great time on their vacation! :D Love the pictures. My husband is supposed to be getting Bon Voyage for me today, so hopefully I can play a little tonight!

  3. “Look! It’s the OCEAN! Look! It’s a WAVE! Look, it’s a BIG ROCK!”

That sounds like my dad when we vacationed as kids! Except, it was “Look a tree! Look water! Look grass!”

Great shots! Thanks for sharing. You’re the best, Jen! *muah*

  4. Great shots! I got my game yesterday but didn’t get home til late and had to resist installing… otherwise I would have been up til 2:00 AM! ;-)

  5. Oh man… now I can’t wait to get it! lol I’ll have to wait at least another week, though! Loving the pictures & the family. Thanks for sharing!

  6. *sob* I can’t get mine until the 14th. And Target had the first two stuff packs on sale for $10, too, and I can’t get them until the 14th either :( They probably won’t be on sale by then. *sob*

  7. I love it! I actually had some weird graphics things happen last night, too. Hopefully it’ll have gone away when I start up the Sims in about…2 minutes. hehe! I love the Brumsdorfs, very cool!

  8. That.. is one ugly-looking mean tourist guy laughing at poor Dane. Steve attempting the “hang loose” thing is hilarious. XD

I’d totally forgotten Bon Voyage was coming out. Hope you’re enjoying it, Jen!

  9. ohhh, i want that! It look so cool! But i think i have to wait until christmas time before this ep will hit my shore! Anyway, nice pics you have there!

  10. I can’t wait to get that GAME! OMGOSH it looks great! I am probably getting mine today or sometime this week so thanks for the sneek peek! Happy Simming!

  11. Hahaha, that is so weird Jen! My first adventure in Bon Voyage is exactly like what you just posted. Even down to some of the same pictures! Same hotel, same kind of family, same stuff…weird I tell ya! But so far I love the expansion, although I haven’t been able to play a bunch of it yet. That and it makes my computer run realllllllly slow!

  12. Thanks, Jen This was a great introduction. If I had been psychic, I would have had mine delivered to my home address instead of at work … but who knew I’d be home the week of its release date? *pout* *sigh* Anyway, I’m back home (came back Labor Day) and am slowly catching up. Thanks for giving us the insight into this new family. I like spoilers. ;O)

  13. Hi. I really want to get this now but I think I may have to wait a while to get it. You said that there was some glitches what were they?. I just want to know so I can be prepared.

    Keep Simming!.

    See ya.

  14. The primary glitch I’ve found while playing is that it has gone from running wonderfully smooth with all the previous EPs it’s gone to running as fast as a snail trying to win the 1000m while having salt thrown at it. Practically every action seems to cause a lag spike, and since the hotels are similar to Uni Dorms you end up with the game barely running at times.

That being said some of the features are really nice, its just mared greatly by the really slow response of the game at times (well most the time) I can’t stand this lag and will play previous versions until the modders fix EAs mistakes. Though when it was running nicely then I was greatly impressed by it, I just want to be able to play it without waiting several seconds everytime someone does something other than walking…

I had some graphics problems but after removing insiminator they went away, my version didn’t work with BV anyway so it didn’t matter.

  15. Aner, have you tried having your firewall block the game? Apparently part of the lag issue is that BV is ‘dialing home’ very very frequently.

  16. I should have known Kay. It’s not the first time eAxis have intigrated spyware into there games nor do I expect it’s their last. Blocked all internet privalages of BV and it seems to be running better now, hotel lost still run a tad choppy when sped up at night (since they are like Uni Dorms) but at least I can play without a 2 second pause in every 10.

I’m use ZoneAlarm free edition, if anyone needs a program internet blocker.

  17. Yeah, that’s the one I’m using as well. Apparently another common reason for the lag is water balloon fights. For some weeeeeeird reason a lot of people get lag when those happen, particular on mentioned community lots. o.O
I’m glad the firewall worked for you too! :D Lag sucks.
