It’s funny how I’ve been playing this game almost every day since it was released, and yet on a fairly regular basis, I still see things I’ve never seen before. Last night, for example, I was playing with the Hesperos family and saw a string of weirdnesses. Well, they were weird to me, anyway — you guys have probably seen them already!
Some of them are probably just bugs, as in the case of Cliff Singleton socializing — or attempting to socialize — with Callie Hesperos.
You see, his idea of being friendly at this particular moment consisted of resting his knees on the poor woman and sticking his hand THROUGH her newspaper. Talk about invasion of personal space! In the meantime she did her best to pretend he didn’t exist. I have no idea what he was trying to accomplish here (probably a simple “Chat” interaction), and I didn’t get a chance to look at Callie’s action queue to see what it said.
This next one isn’t really a bug, I don’t think, but it’s definitely bizarre — Callie’s son Costas brought HIMSELF home from school! It confused me for the longest time, because I’d see Costas upstairs, then all of a sudden in the front yard. Finally I figured out that there were TWO Costases running around. It was strange to see him playing with his doppelganger and having the aspiration to be friends with himself.
I have a theory as to why this occurred: the Hesperos family lives in Willow View, one of the houses I created and put up for download. In order to empty the house so I could post it unoccupied, I packaged it and re-installed it in the same neighborhood. I then moved the family OUT and repackaged it for upload to the Sims 2 Exchange. I think I deleted the house at that point, because I only have one Willow View in Mt. Geneva. However, the extra Hesperos family remained in the family bin. So I’m guessing the game yanked the second Costas from the bin, but who knows.
Later on I saw Callie in the bathroom sort of standing there but craning her neck a little. I couldn’t figure out what she was doing, so I paused the game and looked at her action queue. It had an icon of a window and the action “Look” underneath. So basically she was looking out the window! I had never seen that before, so I flashed a pic. The funny thing is, she’s looking out a side window at a light fixture that’s on the BACK of the house. I guess Sims can see around corners…
Those crazy Sims. They keep me up way too late. :-)
I was totally cracking up about Costas bringing himself home from school! I’ve never seen that before.
I have had a sim look out of the window before…just the other day actually. And he was looking at someone that was in another bathroom—a bathroom around the corner. These sims are amazing! I wish I could see around corners. ;)
I’ve had some weird social interactions too. But not one where he seems to be practically forcing himself on the poor woman. lol
Oh, here is a funny game thing I noticed yesterday. I was playing with my blonde bombshell sim. She is not one that I write stories for…so I did not get pictures. Her social was low so I made her get on the computer and chat with people online. She was chatting with other sims in the neighborhood and it usually tells you who has “signed off.” I looked at the top and it said “Junior has signed off.” I paused the game and looked at it. Ummmm…Junior is a day old baby just born to the KAY family yesterday. How is a baby logged on to chat? Do tell me how he can type on the computer, but can’t walk, talk and feed himself. It cracked me up to see that…LOL!
i thought that when there are families in the family bin, they should not show up in the game. i guess they do! if i don’t want to build or find houses for my sims, i just move them into an empty lot so they can roam around the neighborhood. i can only think the reason Costas brought himself home was because you had the family in the neighborhood twice… but still strange since they were really not in the neighborhood and in the family bin.
i really need to start playing my families so i can share all the weird stuff, too.
Yeah, Kathy, share more weird stuff! :-D Lani, that’s hilarious that Junior was chatting with the blonde bombshell — I guess he’s one of those baby geniuses!
Yes, the baby genius is pretty common when chatting online, normally only if there is barely anyone else online. My baby girl Petra came online to talk when her father was living on another lot and they were talking to each other! Online! Hilarious.

U take such funny pictures, all my family was cracking up. It was kinda freaky seeing the twins, though.
Gotta go, bye!
