Victorian Treasure Trove

A few of you were asking where I’ve gotten my Victorian downloads from, so I put together a list of sites. It’s not complete by any means, but it’s a start! You can also check out my Timely Finds page, though I need to update some of the links.

Click the link below to see the list…

All About Style – At one point or another I’ve downloaded just about everything Judie has made. There’s a whole section devoted to Victorian clothing, with categories for every age and nearly every type of apparel (pajamas, formalwear, etc.). My Sims would not have Victorian underthings and gym clothes if not for this site. And Judie’s clothing is just plain beautiful. Don’t forget to check out her Themes section, where you find clothes from other eras as well as prairie/old west clothing, which also fits in the Victorian era, depending on the setting and the mood you want to evoke. And oh, the hats and jewelry! Can’t forget those!

Aussie Top Enders – Some great recolors here as well as new meshes. What I download the most from here: rugs. They have a TON of rugs, most of which look very old-fashioned and therefore perfectly suited for a Victorian home. You have to download Echo’s or Windkeeper’s rug bases (the links are at the top of their page) to use them. I’m also a fan of their bedding, which you can find under Single Objects –> Comfort and Objects –> Bedrooms.

Cindy’s Sims – Cindy has a lot of nice recolored objects here, but what I love the most are her painting recolors . She has 34 pages of paintings, many of which look wonderful in a Victorian or otherwise historical setting. She even states the artist and date of the work beneath each thumbnail, which helps if you’re going for authenticity. (Or pseudo-authenticity, in my case.)

Holy Simoly – Everything here is gorgeous, but as far as Victorian stuff goes, don’t miss the exterior wallpapers, the awesome porch/fence railing, and the lovely Edwardian door.

Lyran – One of my favorite sites, even though she hasn’t updated in awhile, unfortunately. She has a great collection of vintage and patterned wallpapers which I’ve used in nearly every Victorian home I’ve created. I also love her make-up and eyes (I use her eyes exclusively), which are suitable for all eras, of course!

Marina’s Sims – Wonderful exterior walls for Victorian houses, along with porches, door recolors, and floors. I also love her new pediment windows and used them extensively in my Victorian dorm. I see she also has some finished Victorian homes for download now — I gotta get those!

Mod the Sims 2 – TONS of stuff here, naturally, and if I listed it all, we’d be here all day. Thankfully it’s easy to find what you’re looking for there — I usually just type “Victorian” into the “Search” field on the left-hand side and sift through what comes up. You can also try searching on “vintage”, “retro”, and “old-fashioned”, or the era you’re looking for, like “1940s”. What I’ve been finding indispensable lately are hexameter’s horse-drawn vehicles — they’re so cool. Also loving the doors and windows by macarossi.

Parsimonious – Great collection of walls and floors that work well in various historical periods. They also have their clothing sorted by theme and era, which makes it easier to find stuff!

Sussi’s So Good Sims – Awesome collection of clothing, hairstyles, and make-up here. I especially love her “Oldfashioned” and “Gibson Girl” hairdos (found on this page).

The Sims Resource – TSR is a paysite, unfortunately, but they have such good stuff, I can’t resist. (And they do rotate the stuff in the free area, so you can check back every so often and see what shows up.) Cashcraft has recently done a whole slew of Victorian objects which I just love, and I’ve downloaded almost everything Windkeeper has made (windows, doors, plants, and the great Victorian hair mesh worn by Belinda Burr). Also extremely handy are Arenaria’s old-fashioned stoves and refrigerators.

I’ve downloaded stuff from other places, of course, but these are the sites where I’ve found much of my Victorian custom content. I’m hoping to put other bits and pieces on my Timely Finds page as I go through the decades with the Burr Legacy. And as always, if there is something specific you’re wondering about, do not hesitate to ask!

  1. Basil’s hair! Where is Basil’s hair?! XD I thought you’d said MTS2, but I couldn’t remember what entry I had originally asked in to see what you had said.

  2. Thanks for adding me to your links Jen! I have added you to mine too, now that I have finally actually worked out how to do that =).
