Refreshed

Hey guys, I ended up taking a little vacation from my Sims stories for the weekend, but now I’m working on the next Brayton update and have another Shanley update in the works as well.

I also played the old Shanleys a little bit — Mia’s brother and sister, who have grown up and gone to college. I ended up moving the old college lot I built (the one I was going to use for Maude’s college stories before University was announced — anyone remember that?) to Sim State and had Parker and Jacinda move into it with a bunch of CAS Sims. The lot is S-L-O-W, but it was fun to play.

Here are Parker and Jacinda as teens (they were 10th gen twins, but I didn’t get any points because they were born after Mia):

Parker and Jacinda Shanley

Jacinda reminds me a lot of her niece, Sierra. They’re both a bit weird-looking, but oh well. The Shanleys have been always been weird-looking (with a few exceptions), so I guess it’s just in the genes. :-)

Anyway, just wanted to let you guys know I’m still alive, working on stories, and hoping to update soon! Hope you’re all doing well.

  1. Awesome! Yes, those few expections being Liam, Stefaan, Tristan, Lennan, just to name a few. Anyways good to hear from you.

  2. Marcie, you’re amazing…I could not for the life of me remember all of those names.
    /^_^\
I await the next update Jen and I’m glad to hear from you!

  3. Not that I can use custom content since my computer for sims2 isn’t this one (internet) but the pigtails are real cute! K can’t wait to see the update. Ta-Ta!

  4. Good. Another Brayton update on the way! I have finally..sorted out my problems with my computer (i think)..well…not really. Atleast my Sims is on a whole new level..great graphics. and fast loading. I have not had this experience before! Lol, but my computer wont allow me to play the sims for very long because it goes looney. Haha. Anyway keep up the good work Ms. Jen. (uhh sorry if you are married, but i didnt wanna say mrs. and mess up..)

  5. Hey Jen, glad your alive!!!! (relief sigh)

Was wondering, (big outburst) where did you get those piggy tail hair????????

    They’re kool!!!!!!

    Jess

  6. Actually, i don’t think Jacinda looks that bad. She has nice eyes, anyway. I was wondering if you’d updated the Shanleys on Tribal pages recently – I love looking at family trees and remembering all the sims. Looking forward to the next update!

  7. I’m glad you took a break, but I’m more glad that you are writing another Brayton update. I need to know! :-) I remember your maude’s uni.. I also remember the trailer family and I wonder from time to time how they are doing. (I know this isn’t real life, but hey) Also, are you the blogger that participated in national write a novel in a month? If so, that is so cool. :)

  8. Yes, I do remember Maudes college stories that never really happened because University was announced soon afterwards. Wow, that was a long time ago but I’m glad to see you did something with the building. :) As always, I can’t wait for the next update. I hope you got some R and R.

  9. Aw. Even with odd Legacy genes, Jacinda looks pretty cute.. Maybe it /is/ the hair, but still; it’s cute.
Glad to hear you’re still okay! :D

  10. Yay! :D I’ve been pretty slow with my own blog. It’s full blown summer here, lovely weather and clearblue skies..

And we’ve got another cat (temporarily) in our house, which has been keeping me away from the computer extra much. :-)

  11. Hey guys, thanks for the comments. I’m still working on the next Brayton update — for some reason this one is taking me longer than usual. It must be the heat — we’ve had temps in the 90s for five days in a row (hey, that’s pretty hot for Minnesota! ;-)). And even though we have air conditioning, I’ve been feeling draggy and going to bed early, which I never do!! Anyway, enough of my excuses — it should be up SOON!

Jessic@ – Jacinda’s hair is by Janna at the Sims Connection — it’s called “Winn Dixie Pigtails” and can be found under “Hairstyles”.

Claire – I just updated my Tribal Pages site, so all of the new Shanleys should be on there! Some of them might not have pics yet, however. I’ll post those soon.

lil – Cool, you remember the Kilmans! They were my favorite family back then. The last time I played them, Tiffy, Joey, and his new wife Bailey had moved out of the trailer and into a little house. Tiffy was going to be a professor at the college, but of course that didn’t happen, so she’s still a doctor. Bailey got pregnant and then proceeded to upset Joey by having a fling with a neighbor (she’s a Romance Sim). In fact, Bailey is STILL pregnant — I should play them again and let that darned baby be born. Heh.

And yeah, I attempted NaNo last year, but crashed and burned! I did, however, do my own personal NaNo (called JeNoWriMo) a couple of years ago and successfully wrote 50,000 words in 31 days (I gave myself an extra day for the month of August). The resulting novel was a complete mess, but I was glad I did it. Have you ever tried NaNo?

  12. I never heard of it till you, but me and a few friends want to. I can’t wait, but I have to, at least until the winter.

  13. OH! Man! I’m totally doing NaNoWriMo this year! Last year I didn’t even hit 5,000 words, but this year I’m doing it! *plays the Rocky theme*
I remember the Kilmans, too! Curse that NoodleSoother. Turning their lives upside-down.
Man, I do kind of wish I knew what happened with his Life of Crime. But, maybe his life of crime was really a life of CREAM! *gasp* *shock* faint*

  14. I meant I and a few friends. I’m never going to write a novel if I use that kind of grammar ;)

  15. *laughs* We should form our own little NaNo group this year! I could start a thread on SimScribes for it, if you guys are interested. I like the big NaNo boards, but they’re hard to keep up with, and it’s nice to have a smaller group of people with whom to commiserate! Hey, maybe I can get past 5,000 words this year, too…*joins in Blu’s Rocky theme* Of course, I gotta finish this Brayton update first…it’s totally kicking my kiester…

  16. uhh, what exactly is NaNoWriMo? Just wondering, because I have never heard of it before.
Hehe, kicking your kiester. I am so saying that to someone I know and seeing their reaction.
    SO….Braytons…..me want!
Go Jen, you can do it! Yes, I am very impatient but I know the next update will be worth the wait.

  17. I think it’s National November Writing Month. =) You write a certain amount of words each day for the whole month to get up to some other amount. I think it’s 50 k total like Jen said above, unless I misunderstood.

I might give it a shot myself. If nothing else it’d help me develop my english further!

  18. Yeah, it’s National Novel Writing Month.
    I changed my name-link to it. :D
Gack. Curse updates that attack people… CURSE THEMM. *avenges*

  19. I’ve had your link on my ‘to do’ list, and only got around to really sit down and read it yesterday. Boy was I pleasantly surprised! It immediately jumped to favorite status in my book, and I linked you from my blog right away (hope you don’t mind)! I’ve only touched the tip of the iceberg here, and I can’t wait to consume more. Keep up the great work!

  20. Thanks, DylanTK! I’m glad you’re enjoying the site. I checked out your blog — I really like the idea of the ISBI challenge! I might have to try it…

  21. And thank you! :]
You were a significant inspiration for me when I began writing my first story. (Two entries for my ISBI Challenge family! I’m proud of my self. *laughs*) I really like your style. I love the political ‘Llama Party’ thing, very clever. I would have added you to the credits for that idea, but I wasn’t sure if it was yours, or if you had gotten the idea from someone else. Say the word, and I’ll credit you for it. :]
