The Hiatus Continues

Hey guys, I’m still here, just spinning my wheels in the mud a bit. I didn’t want to post until I was ready to post a story, but I realized with horror that my short hiatus has turned into a long one, and I wanted to reassure you guys that I DO plan on coming back to my Sims at some point in the near future. My internet access from home is working now, so that’s good, but starting the new job has been sort of mentally taxing, which doesn’t leave much brain power for writing Sim stories (I have a very small brain, apparently). I suspect that as I settle more comfortably into the job, I’ll have more energy at night to return to blogging. I’m just not sure when that will happen.

Also, and I’m not sure how to put this, but I’m having a tough time with the Shanleys. I’ve been trying to write their update for days and just can’t get into it. I’m far more interested in the Braytons right now, and even have a couple of updates waiting to be written, but I promised myself to post about the Shanleys first. I think I might end up putting them on hold for awhile, though, until I figure out how to make them interesting again (I don’t want to give them up entirely). In the meantime, I’ll focus on the Braytons.

I hope you guys will continue to check the site for updates, though I can certainly understand losing interest when there are no updates to be had. Just to leave you with a little something, here’s a picture of what the Grim Reaper did after Dr. Hutchins passed away (Dr. Hutchins was the only person on the lot, so Grimmy wandered around for awhile and, erm, tried out the “facilities”):

Nature calls
“What, no toilet paper? What is this, the Dark Ages?”

See you soon, and Happy Simming!

  1. Hey Jen, I will never lose interest of your blog.
Luv the picture of Grimmy on the toilet!!

  2. Hey, I’d just like to say something a bit random, But growing up is so hard! I am stressing with homework and haven’t played the sims in a long time. Oh by the way great (but funny) picture of Grimmy on the loo! Haha

  3. Yep, busy time for me at the moment too, I’m moving schools! I’m checking it out next Wednesday. But I make sure I check every night for updates. I’m also sorting out MySim page on sims2.com, if you want to check it out I’m ameselizz – look out for me on the BBS!
    ameselizz :)

  4. I’m still checking regularly as well. No worries! :D If all else fails I’ll just re-read all your old stories and other goodness.

  5. I promise I won’t quit checking your site…I only go to blogs that are linked to on your site. I personally wouldn’t mind reading about the Braytons for awhile… Drama, intrigue, romance…they have it all. Can’t wait for the next update, hope your brain grows by leaps and bounds.

  6. I’m sorry to hear that you haven’t time and peace to sit down and write your blog. I like both families, so an update on the Braytons is just as welcome to me. BTW, I read an article recently about the possibilities to create new braincells. Apparantly that is possible if you do things out of your daily routine. Amongst the braintraining activities is mentioned: yes …. gaming and being creative :D

  7. OMG, Jen! I just realized something brilliant that you put on your website! Under Greeting From My. Geneva, you put “Where there’s no such thing as weather! Thats so clever! That was just another random comment from Tash!

  8. I don’t think you have a cause to worry Jen…everyone here will not stop checking, and speaking personally, I will just wait (no matter how long, ;) ) for the next update. Braytons, Shanleys…doesn’t matter! Maybe it is good that you are not writing right now. Now you can rest, and when you get back your stories will be better than ever!
    The ever intrigued fan,
    Vivi

  9. I certainly miss all your updates! But it’s ok, get settled into u home and work first, thats more important^^ hehe No prob, the byrtons so soo interesting, I’d love it if u posted more of them. lol… I can’t believe the grim reaper can go to teh toilet!

  10. Hi Jen. Yes i miss you so so so so so so so so so … so much. I kinda knew it would take some weeks to get settle into the new home and the new job. No worries. I will check daily for updates and never give up on you. Jen you have awesome writting skills. Why would i ever give up that? Plus i’m hooked on this blog. You can’t get rid of me that easily.
We all love you Jen and love your blog. So we will all be waiting eagerly for your next update. :-D
I hope you have a great weekend.
    Happy Simming

Oh PS: I love the picture of the grim on the potty but i almost die laughing at your witty comment. Thanks for sharing.

  11. Not to worry Jen, I certainly know how you feel. I do the same thing but now I’ve decided not to worry about it anymore. I stick with what’s fun and if I don’t go back and update other families (like my Legacy for example) because I’m not interested anymore then I just don’t. It’s a game and it’s supposed to be fun, not stressful :) And sometimes we do just need a break from it. I’ve come back from almost a month hiatus again but I got University so I’m excited about playing it again!

  12. Hey guys, thanks so much for all of your encouraging comments. I am working on a Brayton update, but it’s taking forever, as usual! I am hoping (*crosses fingers*) to have it posted by Sunday. Also, I’m getting into the swing of things at my new job and feeling more inspired in general, so I should be returning to more regular updates very soon. Thanks for not giving up on me!

  13. Jen, I totally understand. I’m going through so much right now, too. I have’nt played the Sims 2 in about 2 1/2 weeks. My new site just opened and I only have 1 update up so far. I know that’s horrible, but I just haven’t been inspired. So I know exactly how you feel. I know I’ll find inspiration somewhere, but until then, I don’t plan on updating. I’m just going through so much right now. So don’t worry! We’ll be here waiting when you get back! ;-)

  14. I kinda understand what you mean, but being 15, i dont really. My exams are really killing me and i havent played the Sims 2 for about 3 weeks. I cant wait until Friday when I’m done with school. But over the summer i still have work to do such as study for the SAT’s and AP stuff..anyway good luck and i cannot wait until the Brayton update. I love them! I think maybe you should make a child’s book. I would def. read it. You could be the next DR. Seuss. I love him. Haha good luck and thanks for inspiration.

  15. Great shot! ROFL!! I’ve never seen him do that before, but this game never ceases to amaze me.

Completely understand about real life. It happens to the best of us and noone will hold it against you, or stop checking. At least, I won’t! I love this place far too much :)
