I really need to start checking everyone’s aspiration meters and fears before I age anyone (or before anyone dies). I’m getting sloppy! Heh. Anyway, as a teen, Tebby had reached the top of the teen medical career, so when she become an adult, she was automatically promoted to General Practitioner. Her mom Vesta, also in the medical career, was still toiling as a Nurse, two levels below that!
Tebby’s father Kenneth had already become friends with Gary the bartender and asked him to move in, so now I just had to get Gary and Tebby to fall in love. It was tough at first — they didn’t seem to have many common interests when chatting. But you can make any two Sims fall in love eventually (unless they are of two incompatible astrological signs), so it wasn’t that difficult in the end. Here they share their first kiss…

Here’s where I had to make a tough decision. I now had 8 people living in Shanley Manor. I knew once Tebbany and Gary got married, I’d want them to try for a baby as soon as possible, but I couldn’t if the house was full. Stefaan still had 13 days or so before he would pass away, and I didn’t want to wait that long. Plus the house was just slow as molasses (not the slowdown bug, thankfully, but just my computer being putzy), and having to keep track of everyone was getting tiresome. I knew that if I just moved Stefaan and Tristan out, I’d be back up to 8 people as soon as Tebby and Gary had their second child. So I ended up moving out Vesta and Kenneth as well. I’ve never moved a former heir out of the house — they’ve always stuck around to see their grandkids be born — so it was a little sad, but I felt it was the best thing to do given the circumstances.
So I had Tristan do the “Find Own Place” interaction on the computer. Usually you get a window asking who you want to move out with the person, but nothing happened. I had him try with the newspaper, but that didn’t work either. I had Stefaan try and got the same results. I’m guessing it’s a glitch in my lot — no one can leave! It’s like Hotel California. Anyway, I had to come up with another plan. What I ended up doing was have Tristan’s girlfriend Orella Shack move out of her lot and buy Autumn House. Then she invited Tristan to move in with her, and he brought Stefaan, Vesta, and Kenneth.
I had to furnish Autumn House and rearrange it a bit — my apologies to anyone who downloaded it and tried to play in it, because that floor plan is horrible! I think at some point I’m going to rework it, furnish it, and put it up for download again because I like the exterior, but that floor plan needs serious help. Anyway, here’s Orella calling Tristan just so you can see who the heck she is…
“Well, since I can’t get Colin Firth, I guess Tristan is the next best thing…”
And here are Vesta, Stefaan, and Kenneth standing outside in front of the house. Tristan was off kissing Orella somewhere. I already miss these Sims, but it made gameplay in the main house sooo much easier.
“OK, rock paper scissors for who gets the big bathroom!”
Now I was free to get Tebby and Gary married. Gary Hiatt became Gary Shanley, which sounded really familiar, but I couldn’t place it. Then I remembered this guy. Heh.
“Tebby, my pet…”
Since I had a regular party instead of a wedding party (Pao wanted to throw a party but didn’t have the option to hold a wedding party), there was no limousine/honeymoon. Still, it was tradition to try for a baby on the wedding night, so I sent Tebby and Gary upstairs. I know Valentine’s day was a week ago, but I just HAD to put Gary in those undies.
“Yeah, Stefaan gave these to me as a wedding gift. You like?”
And yes, I did manage to get a portrait painted of Vesta! When she was still living there, I had Tristan do a portrait, but I didn’t like it, so I scrapped it. This time Vesta was moved out, but when she came over for the wedding, I had Pao do a still life of her.
“Ah, she reminds me of my dearly departed Marie…”
Tebbany got pregnant in short order, so 8th generation was on the way! Here’s Tebby with her brother Cort.
“He’s so lucky he doesn’t have to suffer through pregnancy.”
Amazingly, Tebbany had twins! Twins are great for a number of reasons. For one, you get your heir and the spare at the same time, so you don’t need to worry about going through another pregnancy. Tebby’s done having babies. Secondly, they’re usually not clones of each other (you’d think twins would be more likely to be clones, but that hasn’t been the case with my Sims), so you sometimes get two very different kids. Diversity in a Legacy family is a good thing, because it keeps you from getting bored. Plus twins are just cool and relatively rare. So hooray!
“Hoo boy, are we in for it…”
I named the boy Lennan (courtesy of elainsie) and the girl Scottie (Tash suggested Scott for a boy, but I thought I’d use it for a girl as one of my favorite authors did for his daughter). They both have the medium dark skin tone and blue eyes, but Lennan is brunette and Scottie is blonde.
I forgot to mention that their father Gary is a Knowledge Sim (hooray and thanks, guys!), but he has horrible stats: Neatness of 7, Shyness of 3, Laziness of 5, Seriousness of 2, and Niceness of 3, for a grand total of 20 personality points. Oy! Since all user-created Sims start out with 25 points, and most babies are born with more than that, well…let’s say Gary is a little bit lacking. Actually, if you look at each trait individually it’s not too bad; his Neatness score is awesome, and I don’t mind Serious or Shy Sims. It’s mostly the Niceness of 3 that bugs me. But oh well.
Anyway, I ended up being grateful for Gary and glad that I moved out Stefaan, Tristan, Vesta, and Kenneth, because it allowed THIS to happen…

That was a great update Jen! I am currently on 6th generation and I have yet to have twins. I want them terribly since I haven’t had them in a while. Thats so funny, since yesterday my 6th generation heirs husband got abducted; my first also. He had a little girl with black hair, has practically no nose, but has the dads brown eyes instead of the black alien eyes. I hope to make it to 10th generation too before the expansion pack comes out. Good luck! :)

Hey Jen! Great post, twins AND alien baby, am sehr jealous! (i dunno if sehr actually means very, but it sounded good in my head) The twins are adorable! And Cleo is cute too! Your garden looked beautiful by the way, we never get snow like that in England, stupid weather. That beach was really nice too, looked like the Bahamas or something! Oh, before I head off to do something pointless I’ve thought of another girls name you might like (i know, so many names, but better too many than too little), Mia. I love the name Mia, it’s pretty :D

I’ve been reading your blog for some time, and haven’t really commented anything. So I figured that now was as good a time as any, eh?
You’ve definitely got some great writing skills right there. I really love to read your stories. It’s a bit sad that you’re rushing through these last few generations of your legacy family, but it’s sure been one hell of a ride, if I may. I’m sure it’ll be equeally good to be returning to the other stories.
You might have noticed that I signed up for SimScribes the other day, but it seems that I haven’t gathered anything important to say… And I’ve got a shyness score of 3.
While I’ve got to admit that your legacy got a little one-sided since Patrick passed away, I can perfectly understand that decision. I just hope you’re done in time.

It’ll be sad not having Kenneth, Vests, Tristan, or Stefaan in the house, but you gotta do what you gotta do, right? And I understand perfectly about rushing through the last generations. I must admit that I’m doing the same exact thing as you. It gets kind of annoying when they gain life instead of lose it. I’ll try your little trick, for sure! Wow Jen, I looove those 3-page-updates! Thanks sooo much for using my name for your little alien baby and congrats to that too – you’ve been trying so hard for it and finally it’s there :) – Cleo looks really pretty for an alien I must admit! And the twins are very sweet aswell, I like the change in nose, not so barbie-like anymore, a little broader, looks good! And I wonder, how is it possible that Scottie is blonde?! I thought genetics would not pass through three generations – and definitely not blonde, with black and brown parents!!
What I like, too, is that you have a generation with three different hair-colored children – never had that before, eh? I’m VERY excited to see the three grow up, expecially because of the looks and aspirations!
Oh, and will you actually move Vesta back home, because of the gravestone? I thought you should have all generations featured, or not? Well, whatsoever, I loved that update!! Greeeeeeat choice with Gary :)

Eva – I like the variety in hair and nose shapes, too. :-) I’m thinking Gary must have some blonde genes hiding in him in order for Scottie to have blonde hair. I’m not entirely sure how Sim genetics work, but it’s definitely interesting to see what traits appear in each generation. As for Vesta, I won’t be able to move her back, since you can’t move in anyone who has moved out once already. And you’re right, I won’t have any 7G gravestones as a result, but that’s OK. You get 1 point per platinum headstone no matter what the generation, and one extra point for getting all 5 aspiration headstones. I already have a Family one, so I don’t need Vesta’s. Great questions!

I haven’t been commenting much lately, but I just wanted to let you know I’ve been following religiously. And I am very excited about Cleo — if you’d gone to generation 10 without an alien baby it would have been very disappointing, considering how hard you’ve been trying to get one, lol.
