Whew! I had some time to play over the weekend but am just now getting around to sharing the pics. Much of this stuff is old news to those of you who have Generations, but I figured I’d post anyway.
While Talia Godfrey (of my daycare family) was pregnant and on maternity leave for what seemed like a million years, I decided to switch over to the Bunch family. I had never played them before but knew they had some teens and children, so I’d be able to check out the Generations stuff for those age groups.
I got the idea to switch when Talia was outside of the spa and wanted to make a new friend. I had her chat with Lisa Bunch, who was nearby (as were a bunch of the other Bunches). Lisa blathered on about how her cell phone is her best friend, while Talia looked completely bored. That was probably the most pleasant interaction they had.
Lisa is kind of a pill. I gave her a makeover in CAS (she is now decked out in Generations hair and hoodie). While there, I noticed she was missing a trait, so I gave her Rebellious, one of the two new GEN traits. She didn’t really need it, though, because she was already Inappropriate, a Snob, and a Klepto. Yeah, Lisa Bunch has issues.
She argued with Talia for a bit and then headed home, looking pretty happy with herself.
At home, she did her homework autonomously, even though she clearly hates school and anything to do with it, including the bus. Her little sis Darlene and little bro Arlo joined her. Such good kids…for now.
Here’s a random pic of the Bunches’ hideous kitchen. I ended up recoloring it later on, but I forgot to upload that pic. D’oh!
The rest of the family were still over by the spa. I don’t know why that’s such a hotspot, unless it’s because Talia was just there, and that sent the townies flocking to it (since she had been my active Sim earlier). At any rate, here’s Jack Bunch, with Judy and Ethan chatting behind him (they’re all post-makeover).
Jack had a creepy mustache and buzz cut and worked for the military, which didn’t seem to fit with his traits – Loves the Outdoors, Green Thumb, Good Sense of Humor, Schmoozer, and Perfectionist. His bio also stated that he’s a fun-loving “have the whole neighborhood over for a barbecue†kind of guy. So while in CAS, I changed his LTW to “Grow the Perfect Garden†and put him in a Hawaiian-style shirt. (I also made him look like Bob Newbie — totally unintentional!)
The first room I redid in the house (using up most of the family funds in the process) was Darlene and Arlo’s room. I forgot to snap a “Before†pic, but here’s “Afterâ€:
Yay for bunkbeds! And everything in the above pic is new in GEN, except for the patterns, Arlo’s pajamas, and the candle on the dresser. The dresser, by the way, only takes up one tile, which is awesome.
The next morning, Lisa woke up and immediately received a “mood swing†moodlet (one of the new fun things for teenagers). I guess she wasn’t temperamental enough already. Eeek. Stay away. Stay very far away.
And joy of joys, Ethan woke up with a mood swing, too. Only he looked less “I want to kill everyone†and more “aw man, being a teenager suuuuucksâ€.
(His chest hair is part of the skin I use, by the way, and not granted by the new chest hair sliders. I haven’t played with those yet.)

Hey Jenjen! Loving this post a lot! can’t wait to get Generations! meanwhile I will continue enjoying your Gen-stories :P
Awww Jen these pics are great! I didn’t know about the submarine in the bathtub so that’s a wonderful find for me to try tomorrow. Loving Lisa Bunch, she seems like such a riot and is waaay cute after your makeover. She really suits the fauxhawk. Looking forward to more :)
ps. My word today was “sunset” which kind of matches your post. Freaky!
Bad Jen! Bad! You are totally making me want to play Sims3 (haven’t played in ages) AND get Generations… and I am still miffed that Eaxis hasn’t brought back alien abductions.
Must resist!
Oh Jen, I’m so glad you’re back and writing of your Simming adventures again! This family looks like such a total hoot to play! I only managed to test just a very few things on my laptop while away the last few days. I’ve just fired up the game and then came back out to find this – and now I’m totally excited! LOL I love Jack and um…. what’s his wife’s name…. Judy or whatever. The typical middle-aged couple with a typical middle-age spread! LOL!!! I do hope he has one of these mid-life crises we keep hearing about. *wink wink nudge nudge*
I would have hoped that Lisa was going on about how she could keep in touch with her best friends through her cell phone, but apparently Lisa’s a little “out there.” (Which I guess given her traits, she is!)
Hehe, guess Lisa likes a good “debate.” Poor Talia. *giggles*
The kitchen is a hideous color, but looks like a good layout, for a small kitchen.
I definitely like Jack’s new look and yeah, I’d say the perfect garden fits his personality more. *nods*
I love the new bunk beds!! I just wish the more expensive ones actually gave the kids more rest. :( So now my twins have their own beds instead of bunk beds.
Hahah! Man, Lisa is gonna be F-U-N with a mood swing! *gigglesnorts* Wow, two moody teens in the house? Yikes! You’re a braver woman than I am.
Bwahahaha!! Okay, that was awesome, her insult to him as he went to school. *cackles*
Looks like Jack and Judy still now how to have fun in life. *claps* Ooo, ouch, I don’t want to THINK about where she got that splinter. *shudders*
Ooo, yeah, I’m not surprised Lisa is acting out even more now. *shakes her head*
I wonder if Darlene has any clue what was going on in that treehouse while she was at school. *grins wickedly* Bwahahaha!! Okay, that’s awesome, that she dumped water on his head. *gigglesnorts* (Arturo, the twin from my family, played King in the Kitchen while they were waiting for the bus to take him and his sister to their boarding schools as kids. *grins* It was SO adorable!)
Poor Lisa, nobody coming to her party. :( And hey, maybe she was making sure nobody snuck into the fridge to steal that treat she bought for her slumber party! *grin*
I apparently missed out on a lot of fun new things by sending the twins to boarding school as children. I’ll definitely keep the next generation at home. Then after that, MAYBE I’ll send ’em to boarding school again, not sure.
Oh lol Lisa pulls the most hilarious faces ever! Your updates are always so much fun to read. I just found out so much new about generations, just through your game play! Iv been more struggling with problems, I think my family is borked…not because of generations…from before. So haven’t had as much time to investigate new things, my teen pulled one prank, but thats as far as it has got…I had no idea they got mood swings!
Hi Jen,
I’m loving your updates. The Bunch family looks like it’s fun to play. I hope you don’t mind but I copied your daycare centre almost exactly, as it’s so gorgeous. Same layout, same colours, same furnishings…….yep I have no imagination of my own. I’m in the process of decorating the upstairs area and then I can play. YAY!! I always love coming here.
Very entertaining update :)
I’m glad you explored Generation with this family, it was like a Genertion review, which was nice. Yey for a new one tile dressers \o/
How exactly does the moodswing work? are all the wants they get out of it always “bad” ?
You always take such lovely pics, Jen. It really makes me want to play Sims (but, of course, my computer is dead at the moment, alas!). I love how moody the Moody’s are, especially Lisa. Such lovely makeovers you gave them all, too! Does the expansion pack feel sparse? It seems like there’s some neat stuff (I was looking forward to Generations because I love for my sims to have things to do at home/interactions between sims), but almost like they should have had something.. more.. in the expansion to make it more expansion worthy. Like weather. Or put it with Pets or something. Just wondering if it feels that way while playing, or if it feels like it is a full expansion.
I love what you’ve done with the Bunch family re. makeovers – they are one seriously ugly family – especially Arlo when he ages up! And I always enjoy your writing style, it’s upbeat and interesting… I take it that we shouldn’t get emotionally attached to your Bunches… you’ll be flitting off to another family soon, I imagine!
I love popping in here to find out what you’ve been up to… and to get more info on all the options available in this game… tell me, what exactly does a self employed gardener do? Just garden their own plants? Never yet tried the self employed option for anything.
Ooooh dear, thanks to you Jen I had to go and get GEN as my first ever EP for TS3 *lol* – you got me so hooked with your Talia-Daycare-Entry that I couldn’t resist – especially since I missed interesting interactions with Toddler/Children/Teen-towards Adult relationships. And it is definitiely a whole lot of fun! Though I must admit, now that my teen’s Imaginary Friend has grown to a teen too, he’s starting to get on my nerves, since he CONSTANTLY follows my sim around and won’t even leave her alone on the loo… jeez ;) Nevertheless, thanks for keeping us posted! And hope to see how your daycare goes along, since now I’m at a stage where I have to take care of four toddlers and one child – plus my own teen and toddler – whew, the house is crowded I tell you!
All the best :)
I love these security words. :OD))
Anyway, thanks again for updating us, jenba. I’m still trying to figure out what I want to do to play-test Generations. I’m thinking I’ll probably have to create a family in CAS at each age level just to see what’s what. *deep, resigned sigh* ;O)
I love reading your stuffs!
Aww Jenba! Your sims are always so much fun (and make me want to play!) It’s funny how the negative character traits can make for the most interesting sims. I loved the slumber party all by herself – in front of the refrigerator!
I\’ve never played the Bunch, but I do remember having seen their kitchen! *lol*
You made them a very funny family to play with! I\’m in awe in your makeovers! Love Lisa and her bad mood, and Ethan, at being good but tired to be a teen! :D
