Family Trees & About Me

I’ve signed up with Tribal Pages so I can create a more “interactive” family tree for the Shanleys. It contains my other Sims 2 story families as well. I only have a few pictures uploaded at this point, but eventually I want all of the family members to have photos in the tree. It’s kind of cool to click on the different charts and see how the family branches out. It makes me want to start a parallel legacy challenge family so I can eventually marry two 10th gen heirs and have one ginormous family tree. :-) Yeah, I’m nuts. Anyway, it’s a work in progress, but it might come in handy if you’re confused about who’s who. Feel free to check it out!

Also, I didn’t get a chance to play Sims last night, so in lieu of a real update, I offer you some information about me (thanks to ChattyKathy for the inspiration!). You know, in case you’re the curious type. I hope to play Sims tonight, so look for an update on my Legacy Challenge family in the near future!

  1. Hi Jen, You know i’ll read just about anything you put on your blog. Phone book listing, weather predictions, whatever just write something lol. I was wondering about your background. Thanks for sharing with all of us. Hey now that people know you are single i’m sure you will get a lot of admirers who visit your blog and may want to woo you. :)
Looking forward to your next update.
    Sim you later.

  2. Thanks for the bio, Jen! I picked up a little bit about you here and there. Thanks for sharing. Any case for a real life picture? ;)

I’m amazed at what you’ve done with the family tree! I just clicked on a few names. Wow, the Shanley’s up to 24 members! This is great! Now I should be able to follow the family line now.

  3. Really cool! I’ve been waiting for an auto-bio-type thing from you! I looked at your family tree and only had time to look at a few members but I had to go, but I will look at it now! It looked awesome from the things that I saw. Good work!

  4. Thanks! TribalPages does all the work; I just punch in the info and upload the pictures. It’s neat to click on, say, Patrick’s Ahnentafel chart and see all of his ancestors in a row. The legacy founder Nia is Patrick’s great great grandmother, which I hadn’t really thought about! I don’t even know my great great grandmother’s name.

  5. One word: WOW. lol. A real life proper family tree. And they do all the work for you!~~ Amazing! Thanks for the real life bio, I think it helped some of us to know exactly who’s writings they’re following… a.k.a.- worshipping. Hehe. Sincerely,Dustyn.

  6. The Tribal Pages thing’s pretty neat, I’ve only browsed through a few family tree pages and it’s really cool (I’ll check out teh rest tonight^^) I might try it myself If i hve the time. Anyway, thanx for sharing a bit bout yourself. It’s always fun to learn something about another blogger^^

  7. There are some great ideas in this update Jen, first of all the TribalPages thing is great! I’m totally gonna try it. Also I think it’s such a great idea to give your Simology ( I think I’ll do that too, I think we all should actually)! lol Yes I’m gonna copy your awesome ideas.

  8. Wow, that’s really cool! I just love clicking everywhere! The family tree is a really awesome idea, too bad I know I will never be able to do stuff like that ;_; HTML’s not my thing…

  9. Oh Wow! TribalPages is really cool :) great idea!

Thanks for sharing your bio and stuff, I was wondering more about you. There was a test somewhere that determined your Sims Personality. It’s on my old blog somewhere, I should dig that up again.

I’m glad you shared your personality type too. I can see why you’re such a good storyteller now…I’m an ISTJ, which is more of the facts and figures, analytical type, so sometimes telling stories as opposed to just relaying what happened in my game play is difficult for me…I’m working on that though :)

By the way, isn’t Spring Green also home of House on the Rock? I went there once in college. I went to school in Kenosha, WI, so I’ve spent a good amount of time in WI.

  10. Heidi – I think you’re doing a great job with the storytelling. I forgot about the test that determines your Sim personality! I think I took it once upon a time and it didn’t fit me too well. :-)

And yes, Spring Green is home to The House on the Rock! I haven’t visited that attraction yet, though. It’s also home to Frank Lloyd Wright’s house and studio, Taliesin. I’ve been to the visitor center but not taken the tour yet. And hey, I think I’ve driven through Kenosha! I went to college in Madison, so I was a cheesehead for several years. :-)

  11. Jen – I love cheeseheads :) I wasn’t born in Wisconsin but I think I’m just a cheesehead by default…I’m a Buckeye though :) The House on the Rock is such a strange place but I had a lot of fun there. It’s really a collection of just extremely strange rooms.
