An Unexpected Wedding

Kaylynn’s other wants were: Get a Grandchild, Be Best Friends with Zuzu, and Relative Gets Married. Well, Fiona wasn’t due to have her baby for another few hours (or so I thought), so I couldn’t chance that. Kaylynn’s relationship score with her granddaughter Zuzu was at zero, sadly enough, so that wouldn’t work, either. My only option was to have Taryn and Hugh get married. According to my “rules” for Uncle Liam’s house, that would put her out of the running to inherit the house, since she was getting married before Liam’s death, but I had to get that platinum headstone. I was determined!

I switched back over to Liam’s and threw a nice little wedding, inviting Fiona and Kaylynn.

Taryn and Hugh get married

And no empty chairs this time! Woo! I hadn’t planned on Taryn getting married, but she seemed happy about it, and I think they make a good couple. Here we have the obligatory cake picture…

The wedding was nicely timed, because Kaylynn was able hang out with her kids before passing away. She even got to play on the swings one last time — that used to be her favorite thing to do before I deleted the swings at the main house.

It was also nice to reunite Fiona with her siblings and kids for a bit.

When I switched back to the main house, Kaylynn was in full platinum again. After she turned 81, it was only a matter of time. I had her take a shower and relax in the toddler suite. At some point she made her way into the living room, and that’s when the Reaper finally showed up. Poor Callum was still visiting, so he witnessed it and cried his little heart out (he’s sort of hidden behind the hula dancers).

Kaylynn departed, leaving a lovely platinum urn behind her (a Family one, too, which I didn’t have yet). I felt a little sad as I usually do when my elders pass away. I put her grave right next to Devin’s, which I haven’t had the heart to delete yet, even though it’s just a plain gray one. Seems I ended up getting attached to him after all!

Just as Kaylynn was leaving with the reaper, Fiona started having labor pains in the toddler suite. She gave birth to a little girl, whom I named Kay in homage to her recently departed grandmother. I hope she’ll be as cool as Kaylynn was.

I may take a break from playing/updating tonight and tomorrow in order to get some things done around the house (I’ve been procrastinating like mad), so you might not hear from me for a couple of days. Or I might just post something short and sweet, like a tour of Shanley Manor. At any rate, thanks as always for visiting this blog and reading my horrendously wordy updates. Happy Simming!

  1. That’s one big family. Would be great to see a tour. Just an idea; Why don’t you let people choose the last three baby names?

  2. Great idea, Nostalgia. Mary has already suggested the name Vesta for a girl, so the next girl will be named that. I’m open to suggestions for the other two kids!

  3. What a great update! I just love your legacy family stories. What an adventure at Liams house wow…there was so much chaos. I love it when that happens…to other people. hehe

  4. I’m going to have to read this one again (slowly) so I can take it all in.

Okay, silly question – when you switched to Liam’s house and then back to Kaylynn’s house, you said that Kaylynn was finally in platinum mood. I’m sorta confused because I know they don’t age while you’re not visiting. I know you were trying to get her to plat before she died. I guess my confusion was based on the way you were describing it. It almost seemed like Kaylynn was ascending to plat mood while you were in Liam’s house. Maybe I need to reread your story again. LOL Anway, pardon my rambles. :)

  5. Wow! I just love your updates Jen! They are wordy, but that’s the great thing about them. It’s really nice to know the details about things. I think a tour of Shanley Manor would be great! I’ve been meaning to request that. I think the house looks beautiful from what I’ve seen. As for names, I’m not very good at that. I also use the random name generator. It works out best for me. I can’t wait for your next update! Have fun with whatever it is you plan on doing!

  6. May I suggest Tebbany for if there’s another girl? Great work, sorry if anyone can’t access my Sims 2 Blog, Rioneh River. It’s down for possibly forever. Sincerely, Dustyn. :)

  7. Kathy – They don’t age while you’re playing another house, but if something occurs that would give them aspiration points, they do accrue those points. In this case, Kaylynn wanted a relative to get married. It doesn’t matter if the relative is in her household or somewhere else — as soon as that relative gets married, she’ll get those points. Or rather, when I play her again, I will see that she has gotten the points. Hope that makes sense!

As for names, I love naming people and have no trouble coming up with names (I own about a dozen baby name books, hehe), but I do like the idea of having other people come up with names for Fiona’s last three kids, just because it’s fun. :-D

Nostalgia, you suggested Dubrey — it sounds cool, but how do you pronounce it? Dubree or Dubrae?

  8. hehe finally, I’ve caught up to date with your stories. Length and wordy updates are good, I like them cause you feel more into the story knowign the details etc :) It’s great that you managed to maintain such a huge family (and growing!) wish I had the determination :p I’m decided from now on, I’ll have between 1-3 legacy kids and most likely only one will marry and continue the legacy while the other sibligs remain unmarried since I don’t have the determination to play multiple houses like I planned from the beginning :p

it’d be cool if we could name the babies! hehe, though I can’t think of any good ones at the moment. btw… have you joined the new LC yahoo! group sicne the old one closed down?

  9. Hi Janice, I’ve joined the new Legacy Yahoo Group, but I’m super behind on reading the messages. I need to get caught up one of these days…and you are wise to stick to 1-3 kids per generation in your Legacy Challenge family — I’m definitely going back to my 2 kids per gen after this whole ‘Have 10 Kids’ madness is over with! I just wanted to see if I could do it. I guess we’ll see.

  10. Jen – your explanation was perfect. It makes a lot of sense because Summer got a want fulfilled because I gave her a bookcase in her house and she wanted a bookcase. It was when I unpaused the game when I saw that she earned those aspiration points. I just didn’t realize it could go beyond the lot! I know I can look forward to that when I build a non-heir lot to accompany my Legacy lot.

  11. Hehe, no problem, Kathy! I fixed it. And yes, that’s the group! I think I’m 5 days behind on it now…yipes.

  12. Er… would it be too egocentric to suggest Heather for a girl and Heath for a boy? ::shifty eyes::

Anyway, I was so happy to see Taryn get married. D’you think she and her husband will have any children and continue the Shanley line, giving everyone all sorts of fun cousins? Hehe.

Sad about Kaylynn, of course. :(

And I was just thinking how cool it would be to see a comprehensive view of the outside and inside of Shanley Manor! (And Uncle Liam’s, too… ::innocent look::) So I’d love it if you posted one.

  13. Aw, I’ll miss Kaylynn. I remember everytime my Sims marry Kaylynn (which is once), she was one of the best NPCs I’ve ever played! I’ll miss Kaylynn.

Hey, why don’t you just make them meditate until 6:00 pm? Isn’t that supposed to freeze their moods?

Great update! I love these LONG updates!!!
