Now that the second generation of my Legacy Challenge family has passed on, here’s another shot of the family tree. Last time it was Bree’s family tree — this time it is her son Devin’s, so it doesn’t show Bree’s sister, Kiara.
Leo passed on in platinum (yay!) but I did such of horrible job of managing everyone else in the meantime that the social worker showed up and took Maire and the new baby away (the teens got to stay). It was very tragic. And Leo died when the headmaster was visiting, which seems to have caused a glitch — after the Reaper left, the headmaster couldn’t eat dinner. He would sit down and get right back up. I tried deleting chairs and serving him something else, but nothing worked. So I let him leave and called for another headmaster. Now he won’t show up at all. Bummer!
Here’s another list of the family members if family trees aren’t your thing:
1st Gen: Nia (original Legacy founder), Sheldon the Mailman
2nd Gen: Kiara & Bree (twins), Leo the Gardener
3rd Gen: Devin & Liam, Kaylynn the Maid, Melissa Fancey (townie)
4th Gen: Fiona, Taryn, Maire (taken by social worker), Aidan (taken by social worker)
And just for kicks, here’s my Legacy Challenge Scorecard:
Total Points: 20
Score Breakdown
Generations: 4 (4 pts)
Family net worth: §231,000 (3 pts)
Platinum graves: 3 (3 pts)
Family friends: 19 (6 pts)
Impossible Wants: 2 (2 pts, Bree and Leo maxed all skills)
Shrink Visits: -2 (-2 pts, Nia and Sheldon)
NPCs in bloodline: 3 (3 pts, Mailman, Gardener, Maid)
Career Reward Objects: 0 (2 pts for having all 10 — I have 7)
Ghosts: White ghost (1 pt)
Ghosts free to roam: 2 point bonus
Visitor death penalty: 0
Alien births: 0
Children, toddlers, infants taken by social worker: -2 pts
10th gen twins: 0
Platinum graves of all 5 aspirations: 0
As you can see, I got docked quite a few points for the social worker tragedy and the shrink visits. I could have let Leo die in Gold and kept the kids — my point total would be higher! Heh. Oh well, it’s all in good fun. Some people have finished the challenge with 80 points — there’s no way I’m going to beat that, so I’m just going to see how well I can do.
You’ve gotten so far with your Legacy Challenge Jen! I’ve been keeping up with it and I must say that I wish I had your determination. I guess I kinda get bored with it after a while. I even started over because the original one I was working on was getting boring! Oh well. Keep up the good work! Your stories are very entertaining and definitely inspire me to stay on track with mine!
Did you get any pics of Leo’s death when the headmaster was over? Oh, that sounds so morbid. That sucks that Maire and Aidan got taken away. How sad!
Thank you so much for the family tree!
I was going to ask a stupid question, but then I checked a couple entries before this one and sure enough, Kiara also passed and she never married, so she never had any kids. *whew* Now I can follow the family tree without getting so confused. :)
Jessica – Thanks for your comment! I get bored with my Legacy family sometimes, too, but I keep hoping the next generation will bring something new…*crosses fingers* Are you posting your Legacy family anywhere?
Kathy – I did get pictures of Leo’s death, but the headmaster isn’t in them, unfortunately! He was on the tour of the house when it happened. I’ll post the pics soon.
And yeah, Kiara didn’t have any kids, and Liam won’t either — it’s easier to keep track that way!
I keep saying that I want to do one of these types of things, but as you can tell from my own blog, I haven’t been doing much storytelling lately. Maybe when there is a part 2 to the Legacy Challenge (different point structure), then I’ll jump on the bandwagon. I’m enjoying your stories immensely. It’s like the Sim Days of our Lives, watching the families unfold. :)
or… the Days of our Sims’ Lives. That sounds much better. :)
Love the update! I have a stupid question too, do you ever get the kids back from social worker? If you don’t will you try for more kids? It’s too bad Liam won’t have kids I would have like to see what they would be like compared to his brothers kids. You are really dedicated to your legacy and hope it gets easier & different as you go to the next generation. Happy Friday!
Kathy – I think it’d be really cool if you did one of these challenges, too! It’s just cool to see how everyone does things differently.
Mary – That’s not a stupid question at all…I think kids who are taken by the social worker end up in the “adoption pool”. So I could try to adopt and see if I get them back, but I’m more likely to get some random kid. Maybe someone else in the neighborhood will adopt them someday!
AIDAN GOT TAKEN AWAY?! *bawls* … that’s my favorite guy name ever… I need some alone time now *finds a corner to sulk in*
I just have way too many hacks in my game. Most of them improve game play (and fix bugs) and I can just choose not to put the hacked objects in that particular lot. I’ll just have to play a slightly modified version of the game. I just need to dive right in and play. Maybe after the first of the year, after the holidays die down a bit.
I was wondering where you get all your cool clothes from? I’ve seen them in your pics but I can’t find them anywhere in CAS or on the Exchange. Maybe I haven’t been looking for them in the right places?
20 points’ not a bad figure. Sorry about the social worker :( at least now you won’t have too hard a time managing everyone with less people. I thought when a child/Toddler etc., who’s taken away by the social worker, is first in line to be adopted. does this mean both parents ie. devin and kaylyn can’t adopt anyone because their kids were taken away?
Dustyn – I’ve been downloading stuff like crazy lately, but I think I can remember where I got stuff…I’ll put some links in my sidebar!
Janice – I had Devin and Kaylynn try to adopt last night and they couldn’t. :-( But if you are right about kids taken away being first in line to be adopted, maybe I could have Fiona adopt her siblings once she gets married? It’d be kind of weird, but what the hey :)
You’re doing great with your legacy family! I guess I should put up an update like yours too. I really don’t have many points though, I guess that’s not a big deal to me since I’d be happy to just get through it with 10 generations!
I like that I have two houses, it seems to be less boring. Since I want to age my houses equally I’ll play each house 3 Sim days and switch to the other…sometimes I have to force myself to leave one house if I know a big event is coming up, but it does help keep my interest up.
When your children get taken away, you can’t adopt for a couple of days, untill the memory fades more. Try again in a few sim days and you will be able to adopt, maybe even to get your own kids back!
Woops, I didn’t know that. I should have had Kaylynn try again. Oh well, at least they’re sort of back in the family now!
