Love, Marriage, and One Angry Ghost

I finally got a chance to play my Legacy Challenge family for a bit. I went kinda crazy with the pictures again, so this will be a longish update!

Liam sits on the swings with Kaylynn

I took the above picture because I saw Liam doing something on the swings I had never seen — he was “chilling”. And he was looking at Kaylynn, which I thought was cute. If I were writing stories about the Shanleys I would totally make the two brothers rivals for Kaylynn’s love. Mwahaha.

Speaking of the two brothers-who-aren’t-twins-but-look-like-twins, I gave Liam a pair of glasses to further distinguish him from Devin. I figured this suited Liam since he is the “nerdy” Knowledge Sim and Devin is Mr. Popularity. Besides, I thought it made him look cuter. (That’s twice now that I’ve called him cute — could it be that the little dude is growing on me?)

Bree kicks the punching bag

Leo managed to max all of his skills, but Bree still had a few Body points to earn, so I had Leo offer her lessons on the punching bag. I snapped a pic because I thought she looked cool doing that high kick. The scary thing is that her mouth is hanging open, but her teeth are still together. It’s a bit freaky-looking up close.

Sophie Miguel picks up Devin

As a Popularity Sim in his teenage years, Devin often had the want to “Go Out” with his friends. Here Sophie Miguel picked him up in a limo. I just like the way the cars look driving in front of the house at night, so I took a picture.

Bree is pleased about maxing her skills

Yay! Bree finally maxed all of her skills. I was more proud of this one because I had raised her from a baby, whereas Leo had a few skills already maxed when he moved in, so it wasn’t as big of a deal.

Devin plays red hands with Kaylynn

And Devin FINALLY grew up! That seriously felt like the longest teenage phase ever, and he even grew up a day early. He was immediately promoted to State Assemplyperson since he was in the Politics career track, but since I already have the Politics career reward, I had him get a job in Law Enforcement instead. He began as Patrol Officer.

I also invited Kaylynn over and had them fall in love. Here they’re just playing “Red Hands”, but it’s a good picture of Devin as an adult.

Liam makes spaghetti

Here’s that cutie Liam serving spaghetti. Having a house full of Outgoing Sims can be amusing sometimes, since they’re always making those finger gun “heyyyy!” gestures. Maybe I’m just easily amused.

The party rouses Nia's ghost from slumber

Devin wanted to have a party, so I obliged him and invited a few people over. Well, apparently ghosts hate parties (someone mentioned this on the Legacy mailing list, but of course I forgot about it), so Nia expressed her displeasure by jumping out of the TV and scaring — who else? — poor Liam. I don’t know why she has it in for that kid. I thought the picture was funny because it looks like everyone is standing in line to have a look at the ghost.

  1. Great update. Hey isn’t weird how we play god with the sims and we are given guilt trips when we mess up. We then feel bad when out “god” doesn’t meet our needs and we try to give him a guilt trip. Or is that just me. Maybe we are Sims to the big guy up there and he has us on auto? Anyways just got all caught up in my own thoughts and ramble on. Love your story and keep up the great job. Hey did you get her hair style on the web or did she make it up in the fashion?
    A fan, Mary

  2. I love your Legacy story! I think Liam is a cutie too, especially with his new glasses :) Your house looks awesome!

I was thinking about building a wedding garden in my Legacy House, it is so annoying to have to buy that stuff all the time.

I just got done playing my Legacy Family some more and Colin grew up into an adult…I know what it’s like to get attached to some of your characters because Colin is just barely a day old and I’m in love with him…maybe it’s just because he’s a Romance Sim… ;)

  3. Great legacy update! The chapel was a great idea too. I’ll have to keep that in mind. And those ghosts are pesky , aren’t they? lol

  4. Building a permanant wedding spot is a good idea :) gonna have to do that once I can play sims again. I can’t play it at the moment cause my graphics card is stuffed up :( I’m missing it already. anyway, I LOVE that yellow car! one of my sim is a step away from Hall of famer. hehe can’t wait to get that car myself. by the way, do you know if the game auto swap careers into anotehr career when you reach the top of one career like it did in The Sims 1?

Keep the legacy stories coming, as a matter a fact, all stories coming. can’t wait to see what happens with yoour college story line ^^

  5. I’m glad you guys are enjoying these updates, because we have six generations to go yet…yipes.

Mary – Hi and thanks for your comments! To answer your question about Kaylynn’s wedding hairdo — I downloaded it from The Sims Resource. I wish we could change the wedding gown, too, but oh well! :-)

Janice – Hey there, always nice to see your comments! You asked about auto-swapping careers in Sims 2 — I haven’t seen it happen yet, nor have I heard anything about it. My elders continue in the same career until they die, unless they retire or lose their job to a chance card (grumble grumble)…
