What is Gnomesby?

Right now Gnomesby is just a blank plot of land in my Sim City 4 game. Eventually it will become a full-fledged Sims 2 neighborhood. As I attempt to build my ultimate town, I’ll post my progress here for whomever digs that kind of thing. That’s right — you will be able to watch Gnomesby grow and evolve…kinda like a Chia Pet.

I have a truckload of ideas floating around in my noggin, but I’m NOT etching anything in stone…except for this: I want to have FUN. If that means I have to scrap and restart the whole hood eleventy times in five months because I’m not having a good time, then so be it.

One more thing: Gnomesby, both the site and the town, are influenced and inspired by the very talented Jade, creator of the Isle of Thyme, my favorite Sims 2 ‘hood. I want to thank her for her patience, friendship, and sage advice. She has told me time and time again to just have fun with my ‘hood-building and not overthink myself into inaction, and by golly, I’m going to give it my best shot.

  1. Hi Jen!! I’m looking forward to seeing your ‘hood! I know it’s going to be fantastic, just judging from what I’ve seen of your stuff in the past.

    Take Care!

  2. I may just be the first post! I love watching towns grow and change. I hope it’s an interesting ride! Good luck

  3. Aww, good luck with Gnomesby, Jen!

The Isle of Thyme is awesome, and I bet that your little town will really prosper with your creative mind. I bet you’ll be able to think up lots of cool ideas to make the game fun again for you. :)

Good luck! :D I’ll be tuned in!

  4. Hey Jen!

I was so excited to see your new site up!

I completely agree. The only point of simming is to have fun.

(Hence why I have disappeared from my blog for awhile. It started to turn into work!)

Anyway, can’t wait for anything you post. I mean, who doesn’t love chia pets?

  5. YES!! *pumped*

You go, girl! May I commence pimping you all over tarnation?

Just post whatever. I’ll read it, you can be sure.

    *hugs!*

    Jade

  6. Yay Jen! This sounds great…building a hood sounds like so much fun, and if I weren’t so far into my Prosperity Challenge (and mourning the loss of my other town) then I’d build one from scratch. It sounds like tons of fun (and work)! I can’t wait to see what you come up with. One thing will be for sure, your town will have tons of beautiful buildings!

  7. Oh my gosh, Jen, you’re back! Wow, this sure looks like its going to be something! I can’t wait to read it!
Do you think that this blog will be focused only on Gnomesby (LOVE the name by the way)? Not that I don’t want to read about it, I’m just curious if you might look into writing other stories as well ;)
Will you be building everything from scratch? (University, Nightlife, etc.?)
And also, do you think you’ll have your terrain up for download (lol, I haven’t even SEEN it yet. Heh, but I know your talents Jen! ^^)
    And what about the houses?
Oh, I’m asking for things, when I should be congratulating you, and not putting you on any stress! I’m sorrrryyyyy! :(

  8. Its so good to see you back and Simming again Jen! I can’t wait to read more about Gnomesby, maybe you will inspire me to start my own neighborhood project!

  9. Hey guys, thanks so much for the warm welcome back! I’m really excited about Gnomesby. I hope you will enjoy it, too.

Allie – To answer your questions…yes, this blog will be focused only on Gnomesby for the time being. Maybe eventually after people move in I’ll tell some stories about them, but who knows. I’m trying to leave it really open right now so I don’t work myself into corners. ;-) I do plan on building everything from scratch, but again, if I find some cool stuff built by others, I may use it. Leaving that open, too. As for my terrain, not sure if I’ll put it up for download. I’m not sure about anything at this point. ;-) Does that answer your question? Heh.

  10. Welcome Back
    Cant Wait To Hear More
I Know It Will Be Greatt
Every single one of your posts has been in the past
    :)

  11. Hey Jen Congrats!!!!!! I am soooooo excited for Gnomesby!!
I have a question…are we going to see new AND old faces or just new ones? (Like Ravelos, Fran, Burrs)?

  12. Hoohoo ;)
Nice and exciting I’d say! I’m totally open for anything to come and hope that YOU will enjoy it – I don’t have to say that WE will anyway! Can’t wait to see what you’re planning on and hope to see lots of new people, houses, stories, whatsoever!
Best wishes for Gnomesby ;) – by the way, I have also started anew playing Sims2 – I finally have a new lap top, and since I also worked out how to use sims2 on vista, I’m at last playing with a FAST pc and finally loading doesn’t take hours and gameplay works without disturbance. sooo nice ;) – but still, I’ll stick to the original sims2 + university – that’s all I have.

  13. I can’t wait to see how this new hood develops! I’m super excited about it. *Waits for next post*.

  14. Hey, Jen! Glad to see your project is coming to fruition. Here’s hoping you find fun in the sims 2 again. It’ll be interesting to see everything take shape. I’m not patient enough to bother with all of this, but I can now live vicariously through you and Jade. :P

  15. Great blog – will be interesting to see the project evolve! Thnx for linking to my little site! I am building my new downtown at the moment, lots of work but also lots of fun. Good luck with everything!

  16. I’m really looking forward to following the creation of your hood from the beginning. What a great idea!
