The Graduates

When Delaney came home from work that night, she had only one thought on her mind.

Delaney thinks about Juan
“Juan…Juan…Juan…”

Juan became a completely different man whenever Delaney was present. He put his water balloons away and became playful and friendly. Of course, as a man of athletics, he was in excellent shape for his age, which Delaney didn’t mind a bit. She had no reason to believe he wasn’t as perfect as she had always thought, and her family was too afraid to tell her what a jerk he was.

Delaney and Juan
“You sure you want me to punch your arm as hard as I can?”

After the couple punched each other’s arms and rubbed each other’s aching muscles for a couple of hours, Delaney proposed, and Juan accepted.

Delaney and Juan embrace
“Honey, I love you and your bright purple jumpsuit.”

Seeing Delaney so happy with an older man, Sierra decided to put her marriage to Sheldon on hold. To occupy herself in the meantime, she went on the job hunt. Conveniently, the Goobi Goomba clan of Upper West Auroborea was looking for an Exorcist and didn’t seem to care that Sierra had no qualifications whatsoever. What mattered most was that she looked good in their traditional costume and body paint.

Sierra in her work uniform
“Yeah, I’m an exorcist! WOOO!”

Mia dealt with the increasing weirdness of her family by doing what she had always done in times of great stress: play video games.

Mia plays video games
“Man, I never get tired of Tetris! Come on, baby, ROTATE!”

And Marcel dealt with his daughter’s impending marriage to a graceless nincompoop by getting slightly tipsy and pretending to be Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Marcel flexes for the camera
“Check out my huge, bulging muscles, girly man!”

Juan had no idea that the family disapproved of him and took Sierra’s giving him the cold shoulder as an excuse to check out her behind.

Juan checks out Sierra
“Nice…boots.”

Delaney took note of Juan’s wandering eye and decided to go all-out at their wedding, piling on the fake hair and wearing a sexy cut-out dress to get his attention. Her father Marcel protested the marriage in his own passive way by showing up late.

Delaney marries Juan
“Hmm, I think I’ll go check on the mail…”

As Delaney stared at her new husband, she was determined to make this marriage a successful one. She wanted a family more than anything (specifically, three kids who would all graduate from college) and knew Juan would be a good dad, if a little strange.

Juan stared back adoringly, more in love than ever with this mercurial woman who could be an athletic goddess in a purple jumpsuit one moment and a glammed-up beauty queen the next.

The happy couple
“I’ll never throw a water balloon at you, my darling.”

He also chuckled to himself when he saw Sierra trying her best to charm Professor Thomas Day from Sim State, who had once been an admirer of Delaney’s. It seemed Sierra wanted a grey-haired gent of her own.

Sierra flirts with Professor Day
“She only wants him because she can’t have me. Ha!”

After the wedding reception, the newlyweds were supposed to ride around Mt. Geneva in a limousine, but Delaney was called off to work (someone needed a mural, stat!) and Juan was left to cruise around in the limo by himself. When Delaney returned early the next morning, they had their first real argument.

Juan and Delaney argue
“I refuse to take a backseat to a couple of paintbrushes!”

But of course they made up, just in time to have some belated wedding night woohoo.

Four woohoos, in fact.

  1. Hello !! I really love your blog, very nice stories and not to hard to read for a french girl like me. I have one question, in one of the Brayton updates there is a picture of Cecily sitting at what looks like “une coiffeuse” (oh sorry I don’t know the word in english) : I search your blog it’s the third picture of “Look in Thy Glass”. How do you put a lamp on it ? I’m very curious to know that !!
I really love the Braytons’ outfits and houses.
Thanks for sharing those great stories (and pictures) with us.

  2. Haha, that was funny Jen. There is some crazy stuff going on in that family. I love Sieras new hair! Is that a download or a new mesh from Uni? I just bought Uni from Amazon so hopefully I’ll be playing some simmies through collegs soon. :)

  3. Jen; I sure had quite a few laughs with this post esp. hearing Arnold in my head saying girly man Ha!

Juan doesn’t seem like the husband type and is he really that mean? Ugh what a loser.

I also posted 2 chap. on my family and I don’t know how you can manage playing two legacy families as just trying to keep up with mine and the satellites take a bit of time.

I also see that you updated the house ..it looks really nice, I really enjoy having Blackberry place in my game as I have 8 Sims living in it and it works perfectly. You seem to have a knack for building some nice ones :)

    Later…V

  4. pioupiou1717 – Hi there, good to hear from you! I’m glad you’re enjoying my stories. As for “une coiffeuse” (which I think is the vanity table), I used the “move_objects on” cheat to place end tables directly on top of it, so that they became part of the vanity. I was then able to put a lamp on it. I love that cheat!

lil – Glad you liked it! :-)

Amanda – Sierra’s hair is a new mesh from Maxis which comes with University. I look forward to seeing your Sims go through college!!

PRMami – Ooh, I gotta get over and read your update! (Update: I read your update (which was awesome) and left a comment, but it didn’t show up. Let me know if you didn’t receive it.)

thomas – Thanks and welcome! I see you’ve started a Legacy blog! Hope you have a blast with it. :-)

  5. thanks i really loved ur legacy challenge i read it all in one day lol i hope people like my blog as much as they do like urs :-D

  6. Hi Jen;
Yep I got your comment ( thanks Sweetie!) and answered you back on my blog about the llama suit. Damion died in regular clothes but both Laura (the cheerleader NPC) and Damion ( Mascot NPC) haunt in that llama getup. When they were alive and playable they would show up on the community lots and other homes in that suit.

Ok now tell me …where do you get your ideas for building and decorating? I absolutely love the way you have them done and Blackberry has not been changed since I downloaded it as I like it much ;)

I went to Lowe’s with the hubby today and looked over those house plan magazines but didn’t see anything that spoke to me . So how do you do it? :D

  7. Thanks for the reply ! I would have never thought of that. Does the vanity still work for changing appearance ?

  8. that’s hilarious! reading about the Shanleys never tire me out. i can’t wait to see what happens when they really get a night out on the town (i.e. Nightlife).

  9. Great update! I l-o-v-e the Shanleys. New subtitle at the top – ‘which is being terribly neglected in favour of May Green’. Hehehe. I love Delaney’s hair – how cool is that? She looks like Marge off the Simpsons. That’s a compliment :).
Oh, I’ve done a massive Garvie update as well!
    E-Liz xxx

  10. Hi Jen. That was a funny update. Those crazy girls :D
I especially loved the water balloon prank. That’s awesome. I love the excorist outfit. She looks so cool.
    :)

I’m glad you are keeping us update on the Shanley’s family.
    Happy father’s day!!
Happy simming Jen. And i hope you had a great weekend.

  11. I have such a soft spot for the Shanleys. :D I also have to thank you, Jen — each time I read your blog, no matter what you write about I get inspired!

  12. Oh! Hey, Jen? You’ve heard about Will Wright’s new game, right? :D It looks AWESOME.

    spore.ea.com

It’s like Sim Earth and Sim Life had a lovechild that then went to college and became this!

  13. Hi Jen,

I stumbled across your sims blog a couple of weeks back and have been hooked ever since. I love your stories (Shanleys and Braytons), and your captions are so funny! =) Every time I look at your pictures, it makes me wish I could make houses that looked as nice.

Maybe it’s just me, but in that picture of Sierra wearing her exorcist outfit, are her ring fingers strangely shorter than the others? Hehe.

Anyway, keep up the great work! I agree with all the others that you would make a great writer. =)

  14. Hey guys, glad you enjoyed the Shanley update. I’m working on another one since I’m still mulling over the next Brayton update. To answer some questions:

PRMami – Thanks, I’m glad you’re enjoying Blackberry Place. :-) I get some of my building and decorating ideas from house plan books and magazines, mainly ones that include pictures of interiors. Blackberry Place and a few others I built (including the latest Shanley house) are from the Sarah Susanka “Not-So-Big House” books. I also get a lot of ideas just from looking at other people’s Sim houses! And sometimes it helps to find a cool piece of furniture I like and build a room around it. Anyway, I think your interiors look great!

pioupiou1717 – Yes, the vanity still works, even with those tables attached to it!

Kay – I hadn’t heard of Spore yet, but I looked at the site, and…whoa! I’m not sure I’ll get into it like I’m into the Sims, but it definitely looks intriguing. Thanks for that link!

RG – Welcome! And thanks for your comment! I never noticed Sierra’s stumpy fingers in that exorcist picture — that IS freaky. Sim bodies are really strange sometimes. :S

  15. YAY! I love it! I especially like Sierra and her exorcist outfit, and Delaney coming home, thinking about Juan.

Now I’ve been doing a little wondering, but how are Tristan, Vesta, Stefaan, Kenneth, etc doing. I understand about how satelitte houses are hard to manage, why I have quite a few, and I’m like I want to play my legacy family house, infact I have an adult, who should be gone by now, cause she was born in 2nd gen and kids who are toddlers, that were born before my 3rd gen spare heir, and she is an adult now, so I dunno what to do…..
