Welcome to Niadon

When I popped into the lot after merging Marcel in, he was standing there in his llama suit again. D’oh! I thought he would leave that thing behind when he became an adult.

Marcel in his llama suit
“Once a llama, always a llama. Voooo gerbits!”

I let my Sims do what they wanted for a few minutes, just to see what would happen. Marcel grabbed a book and started reading, standing up (which I had never seen — guess there’s always a chair around!), while Mia played her video game some more. Ooh, fun couple.

Mia and Marcel in the shack
Marcel: “Maybe we could have a toga party or something?” Mia: “Hold on, I’ve almost beat my high score…”

I decided to get Marcel a cell phone so they could both make calls at the same time. They also needed some new clothes. While they were hanging out in the store, Mia leaped into Marcel’s arms, and I just thought it was cute. From that angle, the llama head looks like it’s smiling.

Marcel holds Mia
“I don’t care if you go shopping in your pajamas and bare feet — I still love ya.”

With the money Marcel brought to the family, I was able to rebuild the shack into some semblance of a real house. I followed a floor plan this time, but I was only able to build two-thirds of it. It looks really barren, but since Marcel got a high-paying job in the Natural Science career, I’m sure it’ll be full of stuff in no time.

Here’s Marcel in his new clothes:

Marcel post-makeover
“Can I put the llama suit back on? Pleeeeeease?”

Mia and Marcel both got nifty little diplomas for graduating from college, so I just had to hang them on the wall. They say something cool when you click on them.

And a weird thing — when Mia first moved onto her lot, she was in a cranberry-colored suit. When she showed up at Marcel’s graduation, she was wearing the blue blazer and gray pants. I don’t know what happened there, since I never had her change clothes. It’s especially weird since that’s the outfit Nia was wearing when she started her legacy. Deja vu…

Mia looks at the diplomas
“Ah, those crazy college days…wait, I majored in Psychology?”

I sort of jumped the gun and had Mia and Marcel try for a baby before getting married. Woops. This isn’t your grandma’s legacy. Or your great great great great great great great grandma’s legacy, either. Actually, I was just eager to get started on 2nd gen and didn’t feel like messing with a wedding.

Here’s how Mia found out she was pregnant:

Mia throws up
“I did NOT sign up for this…”

Poor girl. I had her work that day hoping she’d get promoted, which she did, then had her go through the Mood Energizer and start meditating.

Mia meditates
“Maybe I’ll name the kid ‘Nirvana’…”

In the meantime, Marcel worked on his skills (Knowledge Sim, yay!) and invited his old college buddies over quite often (his Social was low and Mia was meditating). One annoying thing about University is that they have all of these piddly 100 point wants now like “Chat with So-n-so”. Mia has six want slots, and at one point ALL of those were filled with these itty-bitty wants that don’t give her much of anything. Mia ends up spending a LOT of time on the phone, calling various friends. I was relieved when “Have a Baby” finally spun up! Finally, some decent pointage. Maybe that’s where the challenge is now? It’s harder to keep them in gold or plat when all of their wants are so low-scoring.

Here’s Marcel watching the Sports Channel with his buddy Warren (the second llama mascot to join Hoh-Cham-Hoh):

Marcel and Warren
“Ooh, I can’t stand those cow mascots!”

Finally it was time for Mia to go into labor. She went through the usual series of shrieks and howls.

Mia goes into labor
“WHOSE CRAZY IDEA WAS THIS, ANYWAY?”

And she had a lovely baby girl! She has blonde hair (naturally), and her father’s grey eyes and pale skin tone. I wanted to start giving the kids Irish names again (as I did with the first four generations of Nia’s legacy), so I named her Delaney. It means “descendant of the challenger”, which I thought was appropriate. Delaney Shanley sounds a little goofy, but oh well!

Mia holds Delaney
“Just be glad I didn’t name you ‘Pia’.”

So second generation (or 11th, however you want to look at it) is here! By the way, I named Mia’s house Niadon, after Nia and Sheldon, the founders of my last legacy. I didn’t want to go for another “Shanley Hall” or “Shanley Manor” type of name. Anyway, that’s it for now. Sorry it’s a bit spotty — it’s way past my bedtime! Happy Simming, folks!

  1. OH, G2, how great!! I love the updates on the Shanley’s, they sure grow on you don’t they?? And yes, it IS pretty easy, my founder lived in a pretty house once future husband moved in. Where is the time they started out in a shak??

  2. Kewl Beans!
Funny how those NPCs end up in those llama suits. My gal Laura who was a cheerleader came onto the Moonlight lot dressed in that llama suit instead of what she was …the cheerleader. Hey at least you don’t have any weird hair color. As my g. 3 twins got black hair from who? I don’t know ..guess I’ll never know LOL. I’ll say it came from Laura’s great granpop..shrug.. can you tell I still feel jipped about the hair color? :)
Plus your Marcel looks exactly like my Damion who I have pegged as the sire for g.4 heheheh. My g.3 heiress is still a child but is already best friends with the llama guy. Here’s HOPING I get some more blonde genes in my family line again ..yeah right!
Looking forward as always to read the next installment :)

  3. hehe I love the name, Niadon, lest we forget the G1 Shanleys^^ Congrads on G2 (or G11) This is goign to be an interesting legacy. In a way this is easier I suppose becasue if we move someone in straight away we have that extra cash to build up everything eventhough after 5 ppl from college are in the house you get a point docked off cuz it inflactes the funds, but it gives the family a really good headstart. But There’s probably many challenges to come along the way.

  4. Hahahaha! That shot of Marcel in overalls was great. They seem to be an amusing pair, it’ll be interesting to see how they handle parenthood! With the way those sims love their handhelds, the poor kid will be wailing and Mia will go, “Sshhhh! I’ve almost beat my high score.”

I miss the days of having a shack and struggling. It seems to go by so fast. When I attempt the Uni challenge, I don’t think I’m going to go through college… just so it’ll keep that ‘challenge’ element to it. Plus, it gives me an excuse not to build an actual house for a few generations. ;)

  5. Yay! Great post, it’s almost comforting reading your Legacy posts, brings back the memories of Shanley Manor, how are they all doing anyway? Delaney is adorable! I’m looking forward to seeing what she looks like when she’s a bit older. Remember to take some pictures this time, Jen! :P ;)

Oh, and just to start the ball rolling, I have a couple of name suggestions! You’ll have to start a new list! Anyway, I like the names Saskia or Savanna for a girl (I’m using them in a story I’m going to start soon) and maybe Trent or Marc for a boy, I’m not so good at boys names! Anyway, looking forward to your next post! :D

  6. Yeah, the challenge is not quite there when you have a degree that will get you a high paying job in almost no time. I’ve been kinda bummed since my sims ave bought just about all they could ever want and I’m not even on generation four yet!

  7. Hey Jen, great update. Sorry your sims are not struggling enough. :-D
Anyways, can i add names too, Evelyn; Shiann; Tre; Darien; James, Nicky.
I know not very interesting but i thought i would give some ordinary names in there.
Looking forward to your next update!
    Happy simming

  8. Sign me up! I love reading about your sims. You just have a way of bringing me into the whole situation with you. I look forward to reading more about the Shanely’s. ;o)

  9. Ah, meditating sims. They make the world go around! Either that, or they make it stop and contemplate.
Hee. Pia. What about Chia! Gotta go with Chia! Ch-ch-chchia! :D
Man, though, Mia’s legacy has really taken off running– it took me, like, a generation and a half to get to the point they’re at! XD

  10. Great update! Mia, Marcel, and Delaney seem to be getting off at a great start! I’ve been contemplating on how I want to start my University Legacy Challenge. I think since I’m so close to finishing with the Palomas, I’ll start with the 10th G heir. That will definitely be cool. Anyways…I can’t wait to see your next update!

  11. I just love the pictures of Mia when she is playing her handheld or listening to her MP3 player. The look on her face is priceless. Lol.

I am so easily amused. Ah, well. Great update!

  12. Hi Jen! I’m back! I’m so happy you got the expansion pack…I really wish I had the money to get it but right now I don’t know…

I love seeing your new challenge though…I’ve put my Legacy Challenge on hold for awhile…I’m having too much fun with my Monroeville characters right now.

  13. Hello Jen, i hope it´s everthing ok with you, because i really miss yours fantastic strories.
