Llamas, Togas, and Term Papers

Last we left Mia Shanley, she had finished her sophomore year at Sim State University and changed her aspiration from Popularity to Family. She had also made a few friends and nabbed a boyfriend, Chase Zhang. As her junior year began, I figured she had endured enough of Sim State Dormitory, so I moved her into a tiny rented house at 124 Almond Road. It had a bathroom, living room, and kitchen on the first floor, and a large bedroom on the second. The kitchen was basically a fridge, countertop, and stove, and there was barely room for a table and chairs, but it was all she could afford.

Mia makes a phone call
“I can’t believe I lived in the dorms for two years! This is so much better!”

The first thing Mia did upon moving in was call Chase and invite him over. She asked him to move in, and he accepted. This put another §1000 into the household coffers, which was badly needed for beds and other amenities. I noted that Chase was a Popularity Sim with a Lifetime Want to become Mayor. I had him declare Political Science as his major.

Mia hugs Chase
“I can already hear the adoring townspeople crying out my name…Mayor Chase Zhang…”

The unfortunate thing about townies is that once you move them in, they start all over again as baby freshmen. So even though Chase had theoretically completed his sophomore year in the dorms, he won’t be graduating along with Mia. She’ll graduate all by herself! How sad. Anyway, I figured some more money in the household funds wouldn’t hurt, so I had Mia ask her friend Sandy Bruty to move in as well. Mia also worked on becoming friends with the mysterious llama mascot, Marcel Danaher.

Hanging out on the ratty couch
“Me? Oh, I only drink diet soda. Mainly so I can gorge myself on pizza.”

Around this time, I had Mia apply for a charter to turn 124 Almond Road into a Greek house. You get 2 points in the new Legacy Challenge if you found a Greek house and have all of your Legacy family members who attend college join the house. The charter was accepted, and Hoh-Cham-Hoh house was born.

Meanwhile, I wanted see what Marcel looked like beneath his llama suit, and since I wanted Mia to start her legacy by marrying an NPC, I figured I might as well have them fall in love.

Mia kisses Marcel's arm
“Ew, I’m getting lint in my mouth.”

They made their way to the double bed upstairs (purchased expressly for this purpose) and commenced the wooing of hoo. Turns out Marcel looks pretty normal under his suit. Almost cute, I would say, except that his particular Sim face is one I’ve seen a hundred times while playing the game — it’s one of the basic CAS faces. Normally that would be fine, but this face looks EXACTLY like someone I know, and it kinda freaks me out! Yeah, I know, I’m nuts. So I’m afraid Marcel won’t be the one to found the Legacy with Mia. She’ll have to find someone else!

Mia and Marcel woohoo
“Hey, watch me balance this pillow on my head!”

At any rate, Chase was downstairs making spaghetti (woops) and must have heard the explosive fireworks and animal sounds coming from the bedroom. He ran right upstairs and caught the two lovers enjoying a post-woohoo giggle.

Chase catches Mia and Marcel
“I know we weren’t engaged yet, but I feel like we were! And now you’ve ruined it!”

Chase let Mia know how he felt about the whole scenario with a sharp slap to the side of her face. Marcel slinked off (as if a guy wearing a giant llama head could be sneaky).

Chase slaps Mia
*SMACK*

Chase’s daily relationship score with Mia dove into the negative, but his lifetime score with her stayed at 51, and it still had the red heart icon next to it, which meant he still loved her. He hated Marcel to the core, though. Nonetheless, I decided to have Mia ask Marcel to move in. Unfortunately, that particular option wasn’t showing up, even though their relationship scores (both daily and lifetime) were in the 90s. I’m wondering if this is because of the Greek House thing, because Mia could (and did) ask him to become a Hoh-Cham-Hoh pledge. I was delighted to discover that you can Influence pledges at no cost! Within minutes Marcel found himself writing Mia’s term paper.

Marcel sits down at the computer
“Sure, I woohoo with her, and she makes me write her term paper. Was it that bad?”

  1. Loved the update! I’ve checked your site a few times over the weekend and was happy to see it. My daughter walked in and she thinks Mia is pretty too.

Great job! I can’t wait to see how her life turns out.

  2. Under his suit, Marcel looks just like Joel (my Sim’s llama love interest), I wonder why the name is different. I wish I’d remembered to start a Greek House with my Legacy founder.

Oh well, even though I won’t get the points for it, I think I’ll start one during the next generation.

  3. Hi Jen. Great update. Wow so how did you come up with the Greek House name? Does it mean anything? & Do you get Greek Letters? So many questions and so little time.
Gotta love that llama. lol Marcel is funny character to see always wearing that llama head. I wonder how they get to be a mascot? (sp?)
Anyhoo, I’m loving your Uni updates, can’t wait for the next one.

  4. I love all your updates – they’re such fun to read! But I gotta say, this one made me feel so SAD for Chase! I thought he and Mia looked so cute together.

But, aside from that, I loved it! Can’t wait for the next update. :D

  5. Holey Moley!
Boy I had even forgotten about the greek house points. Hmmm….reminder to myself get more familair with the rules.

Boy it sure looks like they are having a blast.

Can’t Marcel take off that llama head?

I think next time I send one of my legacy kids off to campus, I must try for the greek house.

So why not Mr. Llama head to help sire the next generation? Oh and Aurora I didn’t recognize her…love that look.

  6. Awesome idea to get predges to do the term paper^^ and really unique name for the greek house aswell^^ btw… is a greek hosue teh same as sororities/fraternities? and wow… you’re predging/moving in so many sims! That’s gonna make it wild^^ When you pledge a sim and they move in, does that mean they become controllable? mm… That’d be a bummer for me cause my computer runs too slow when there’s too many sims.

  7. Hey everyone, thanks as always for the comments! To answer some questions:

Mary – There are 7 or 8 buyable Simlish/Greek letters that you can hang on the wall (either indoors or outdoors). I just picked a few that sounded good together. Plus they look like they spell the word “HUH”. ;-) I’ll take a pic so you can see them.

PRMami – I think Marcel would lose the llama head if I just had him change into a different outfit. I haven’t done that yet since I kinda like having a llama living in my Greek house. It’s something different. ;-) And I decided against having Marcel sire 2nd gen because he looks too much like someone I know, and it’s just weird!

Janice – Yep, sororities and fraternities are also known as Greek houses or organizations. I’ve never been a part of one, so I don’t know much about them, but they’re loads of fun in the Sims. You don’t have to move in every Sim that you pledge, so you can have as many members as you want! And yeah, when the pledges move in, they become controllable. I think I’m going to just have 6 people in the house, because it’s already getting a bit hard to control. I realized that’s what I was missing when Mia lived in the dorms — I was only controlling one Sim when I was used to running a full household, so no wonder I was bored with it!

  8. Wow! I never knew about the pledge thing, I was looking to see how Greek houses work. And you’ve basically told me here! The no influence cost sounds amazing! I might even move my sim away from the lounge, well my other sims.

The ‘bonfire dance’ got to see that! Sounds like fun in the greek houses, thanks for the help even though you didn’t know you’d given it.

  9. Awesome. Fun. Totally killer sweet, dood.
That looks like so much fun…ya know, it’d be cool if the regular readers all got together, made a sim for college game, and set to a random house–hoyes. That’d be awesome. t-t

  10. Hey! Sorry I haven’t posted in a while. Busy Simming (and loads of work)! Great job Jen, and I await the next post!
What do you think about changing Marcel’s look? As in hair, beard, and maybe glasses? I just think it would be so cool if they got married.
Maybe Chase can get together with…a professor?

  11. Hi Jen!
I’ve got the University pack too, and I don’t really play in the dorms…the Greek houses are really fun!
I’m glad to see that the Legacy is going on fine…I don’t bother inviting the Professors over, I don’t know why, but it seems like they’re just average Sims!

    E-Liz :)

  12. VERY cool! I read all of the posts from the very beginning. Your picture quality is AMAZING. Do you have that on the highest setting?

Your blog is quite humorous and I found myself laughing out loud a lot. Great job! I look forward to reading more!

  13. Thanks for the comments! I plan on updating as soon as I get home from work tonight. :-)

And Mieko gave me a great idea! Starting with Generation 2, the rules say that we can send CAS-created Sims to join our Legacy campus households. That means you guys could make a teen or young adult in CAS and upload it to The Sims Exchange. Then I could download them, have them join Hoh-Cham-Hoh, and post updates about them along with my Shanley heirs. You could see what kind of mischief they get into. What do you guys think? Maybe I could ask for two CAS-Sims per generation?

Vivi – You’ve made me rethink my stance on Marcel. If I can actually move him into the lot (there have been problems with the mascots and cheerleaders), I might just go for it. People seem to like the idea of Mia marrying the llama guy. :-) And maybe I’ll get used to him being the doppelganger of someone I know.

  14. Jen is you dislike Marcels looks then you can get the baby from him then move him out, never to see him again ;) just a suggestion.

  15. WOW! I have just spent HOURS reading just the updates from starting the University Legacy Challenge and I’m already intrigued. You really DO get great picture quality, don’t you? I can’t seem to get it quite that good, but I’ll have to fiddle around with the settings some more and see if I can clear up the pictures once I have a trial of Paint Shop Pro 9 (I haven’t used 9 yet and I’m not sure if I want to spend $120 for it — if anybody knows where I can get it less than that without getting it second-hand, please let me know!).

Great work! I’ve bookmarked the site so I can come back and keep up with your legacy!
